Sure on KBB but I said street value. Most ppl want the 300 to boost so they'll pay a higher price. I'm lucky enough to have bought mine 300 from someone who had no clue what they were selling =). I personally would want a 95+ SC400 for a smooth daily. I won't settle for a 92-94 unless the mileage and price is right.

I couldn't find a nice 98+ SC400 and ended up with a 98 300 instead. I would love to have gotten a 98+ SC400. Since I had no intention of moding for speed, I would trade the 97-5sp for a 98+ SC400. I could see how people wouldn't though considering the rarity factor.

I say trade the 97 5spd & get the 98+400. Spend the money on the exhaust, convert it to 5spd w58 or r154 & then if you want, convert it to a 430 like I did lol. Drop some lextreme cams in it & have a blast @ 300+whp with 300+wtq.

yes i see where your coming from, anyone that has a sc300 5 speed nowadays is selling it at a premium----i guess i can see why.

Honestly i got nothing against the I6's, here in canada we dont have any and ive always been a v8 guy anyways--just my preference is all.

i think if your going to get into engine swapps might as well by a 92-93 and swap that out.

The 98-00 sc400's are very rare and i think to swap out the engine would be butchering a nice car. Also I heard that they still havent found away around the cel light on the 5pd swap for the 98-00 sc's, that is a big turn off also.

lol sorry Fonzy but your statement is full of holes----the 1uz is about 390 pounds where the 2jz is closer to 500.
Can you prove it?!

This is just FYI, not being a *****.

1. 98+vvti 400 swap into any other SC is super hard cause of the transponder security system in the 98-00 cars. So you pretty much have to have the whole 98 car to do this swap. So scratch that idea.

2. vvti 1uzfe block is, identical to a 3uzfe block. the only differance is the bore size. So all I did was swap the block, cause I spun #6 rod bearing. If you pop my hood, you cant tell its a 3uz. I hardly think that I butchered my car. In fact Im the only 98SC430 around, which makes me 1 of a kind. Thats cool.

3. on the CEL 5spd swap, cartmill got it done, here's your thread, or sign lol jk.

The weights of each engine are already proven facts man. If you can't find that information on your own then you must not be googling correctly.

spdrcr771, the 3UZ bottom end swap is pretty damn cool. Are you the only person on CL with that swap? I always think about putting a VVTI 1UZ is my '93 but then I always tell myself boost would be a more cost effective option. I am running standalone already so it really wouldn't be a difficult swap for me except for the cost vs performance. If I ran into a cheap VVTI 1UZ...

The 1UZ block is made of aluminum I believe which is why its lighter, somebody correct me if im wrong. And the 3UZ swap is very impressive and very gutsy being that it hadnt been seen before. are u really @ 300whp and tq??

I would not trade my vvt-i 1uz for a 97 300 5 speed. For daily driving the 98+ 400 is awesome. Great torque off the line to redline, and the 5 speed auto is much more aggressive then the previous automatic.

If I was looking for a good project car (and I am) I would still not choose a '97 5 speed, I'd prefer an obd1 car.
