Default Best Tire

Okay guys - please no one say this has been beaten to death - haven't seen a discussion on this for a while and some new tires have come out. I've got stock 16in. rims and am looking for the best overall tire for street/highway driving in So. Cal.

What do you guys think:

Bridgestone Potenza S-03 Pole Position
Dunlop SP Sport 9000
Dunlop SP Sport 5000 Asymmetrical
Michelin Pilot Sport
Michelin Pilot Sport A/S
Pirelli P7000 SuperSport

Did I miss something?

for stock 16's? i would not go with pirelli p7000 SP due to the fact that it sucks in the rain and after half of tread life, it gets annoying because it's so loud!

I am currently running my stock 16's with michelin's and i love them. they're pricey, but IMO, well worth it. my tread is almost out, but it's still quiet and smooth. handles great too!

Look into Firestone Firehawks - I'll never buy a different tire again - hope my opinion helps.

I like BFGoodrich g-force KDWS very quiet.

How many miles did your tires last?

I'll 2nd that!. 17" are less that $100 a piece, but they are grippy, quiet, and ride smooth! I haven't tried anything else yet, but I dn't really have a reason to.

The S03 Pole Position supposedly has better rain performance than the others you mentioned, which is an issue with the SC since it can be tail happy in the rain.

I have Michelin "Pilot XGT Z4's" on my factory 16's and they are great. Nice and quiet and handle well. I think I paid around $850 for everything when I got them last November. 15,000 miles later they are just like the day I got them.

Another vote for Kumhos.....very quiet, very smooth. I've only have about 3K on them. I had toyo proxes before.... they were awful.

What kind of mileage do you guys have on the Kumhos?

Thanks everyone for all the great info. I've been doing some research the last few days and here is what I have come up with.

Pirelli P7000 SuperSport - Too Noisy.
Dunlop SP Sport 9000 - good tire but not the best for the money.
khumo supra ecsta 712 - Best tire for the money.
BFGoodrich g-force KDWS - very good tire for the money.
Michelin Pilot Sport - Excellent tire but price is $50 more than the Potenza and many reviews I saw put the Potenza ahead.
Bridgestone Potenza S-03 Pole Position - Expensive, but not as much as the Pilots, and I have never seen a tire get such good reviews.

Based on all the reviews I will probably get the Potenza S-03. However, thanks for letting me know about the Khumos guys. I didn't realize just how good and inexpensive they were.

"Dunlop SP Sport 9000 - good tire but not the best for the money."

For a high performance tire @ 100usd, (225/45/17) this tire is amazingly priced! The price competes with the Escta Supras!

BTW, these tires are really good. But without a reinforced sidewall, expect a bit of wobble going @ high speeds and turning tight turns really quickly.
