Default SC300 valve cover gasket replacement

Alright, so my sc is leaking from every which possible side of the vc and I need to change the vcg pronto. The problem is there are a few questions I have yet to answer such as:

1) How in the hell do you remove the egr pipe attached to the y-pipe? I loosened the nut, but the pipe wont slide out what gives??

2) After manage to remove the *%&$ing y-pipe and remove the old vcg, is there anything special i need to do to the new vcg, such as some for of sealant? I've read about an 'permatex rvt something or other' and wonder is thats necessary? Or do I just have to swap them?

3) Beside plugs and wires, is there anything I would be interested in replacing while I'm in there?

4) When it all goes back together, can i reuse the tb gasket and y-pipe gasket? The tb one is a little askew, and the y-pipe I'm not sure of, since its still on.

I'm trying to finish this before August, so if anyone has an answer please post asap.

Thanks in advance CL

Just pull the intake back at the y so you dont have to completely remove it. You can get to all the bolts and slide the valve cover out from underneath it. You dont need any type of sealant or anything for the gasket, just make sure that it sits flat and that you torque the bolts to spec and in the proper order so it does not leak.

if you are careful you can get away with not having to replace any other gaskets i.e. throttle body, intake mani. etc. When you pull it apart make sure that you are very careful and things should go back together with no problem. I'd inspect all the gaskets to make sure they do not need replacement, though.

Plugs and wires are a good thing to replace since you'll have it apart. I usually like to replace my distributor cap and rotor when I replace those as well...something to consider.

Hope that's helpful.
