Wink Don't get mad, my engine mounts rubber mallets

Ill have epics tomorrow for everyone but here is the story. I pulled my motor and transmission out of my sc300, 1jz with a 5-speed, and put ti back together. Well the stock fluid filled mounts were in bad shape, (1) broke. I had to be able to get to work this week unless my new mounts arrive.

I am getting Ultra sports polyurethane mounts for a 89-92 Supra turbo. They will fit our SC300 with a 1jz swap with the short brackets. I got the dimensions from the manufacturer and went to Walmart bought (2) rubber mallets but them to 2 7/8, cut the handle off and drilled a hole through the center and bought 7/16 course rod, two larger washers, and locking nuts. They have been on my car for 5 days now. it is running great

------

I didn't want to post it mainly because I know there will be a large amount of member *****ing, bu trust me I don't do janky* things to my car, but I needed to get to work this entire week because I worked farther and I had no transportation.

Also the steel threaded rod is a once piece design which improves the integer of the rubber mount with engine twist and pull.

Cheers

LOL I would never do this type of stuff to my car but I have a friend who used 3 hockey pucks on each side for his mounts. Just drilled a hole right thru them and bolted them on. I thought he was FACKING CRAZY!!! He has had them on his car for over a year and they have not shown any wear on them at all. LOL it's crazy but if it works then more power to ya

Quite a lot of people use hockey pucks as motor mounts on the 240 forums

Thats too funny. Good job! Hey when your in a bind & you can use something else that is not formal, but gets the job done. Then by all means. I once needed some metal to build a MAF adapter for my SC, & on sunday's theres no places to get any metal. So I went to home depot & bought a floor scrapper. The big one with the shovel handle on it. Cut the scrapper off with a jig saw just to use the square pcs of metal. HAHA.

Whatever gets you to work is OK in my book. Hopefully it all holds up well.

thats good thinking. i wouldn't expect it to last forever but for an emergency fix, you could not do better imo.
