Was black interior always an option on the 1st gen SC's?

I've owned two myself one 95 and one 97, but I was always under the impression that black interior was not introduced until the 1995 SC's, when Tan or black was available, then in 97+ black/tan combo was available as well.


and that in 92-94 only tan and spruce was available...


I have seen several black interior 92-94 SC's for sale over the years on here and other car sites, I know a couple where swaps, but a few the people claimed to be original, I have also noticed a few stock ones for sale on Craigslist that seemed to be owned by older people with black interior pre 95's so i would assume they are not swapped..


Does anyone here own a 92-94 with black interior?


I swore they had to be 95+ but i guess i could be wrong..

As far as I know it was only included on the 95+ SC's. The weird thing is that I have seen a few SC's for sale where the owner claimed the interior was originally black even though it was a 92-94 SC.

yeah same thing i have noticed.. I figured all the silver cars 92-94 came with spruce and everything else had tan..


most of the 92-94's ive seen with so called original black interior are white..

just wondering if anyone here actually owns a pre 95 with black original interior

I have owned a 92 n 93 both w/ oem swapped black interior. Don't think black was an option like u said until 95....

Yup 95+ came with black, anything before, it either painted or swap.

so is grey just as rare as black? I actually want a grey interior instead of tan because i think grey black combo looks great.

Actually just found a 92 Lexus sc OEM black. Pretty surprising.. I've always thought 95+ only but seems like certain colored vehicle came with different options. I'm thinking it was probably something with upgrade?

go to Toyotareference.com and look at the sales brochures. black interior wasn't offered in 92.

Look closer at what people are calling "black" interior- the gray interior was the "black" interior of the 92-95 SCs and in pictures it can look black.
