Best compliment ever!!
Here's the story:
(backround info first)
I bought my SC300 a year and a half ago. She was at some "Spaghetti Western" Auto Dealership (Delaware) in consignment for the owner's buddy. They wanted 10k I offered 8k cash. *Sat and waited while the grass grew*.
Got a call back a month later and they took it!! 76k miles and the seats look like they have never even been sat in! All original 98' DWP with the cold package. Been IN LOVE with this car ever since!
Now, most fellas on CL have a daily driver (DD) and I knew that had to be a good thing if I'm going to spend time restoring the SC3. So I go and take a weekend in Denver and pick up a Subaru Legacy 2.5 5MT. Drove that Scoobie all the way back to Texas. Fun car. After that last hard winter Dallas had I was really after the AWD that little car offered which I hear in the rain, sleet, snow/ice that the scoobie is a real contender. There is a whole other world out there that follows Scoobies. Legacy/WRX/STI a HUGE following on that car...(another story) I take the scoobie in for a CEL to a fella here in Dallas that specializes in the WRX Subaru AND the SC300 (my pride and joy) and IS300 cars. I drove up the scoobie that the morning and left it. The auto shop Mech gave me a ride back and I made no mention of my SC3 sitting at home.....
When I came back to take a look at the Scoobie (end of work day) I parked the my SC in the back of the garage so as he didnt see my car. When I poped inside the shop he told me, "how much do you care about that car (legacy) because it just might be more to fix then it's even worth"! Well, we get into the 6 codes that the computer spit out to him and he talks about how that particular engine is non-modable because the internals are too weak as well as the OEM head gaskets. I told him that was my DD and I am not wanting to dump a bunch of cash into it. As I walked out the back garage (Mech following) he sees my mint SC3.
The expression: Priceless. He does a 360* around the car and looks up at me says, "Now, that's a Beautiful Car!!". Not saying a word I just hold up the keys to him. The guy was like, "I know this car better then any other car". You should have seen this guys face light up! He went from plain dismal to exstatic. I really enjoyed the reaction from this guy. I already knew from the website that he is a absolute pro at this car with engine tunes and mods. Ok, ok, I was sort of shady for holding back the car but I really wanted to see that guy "wake up"
Haha!! It's good to see another person's enthusiasm with the ole' SC3.
He starts work on a new Timing belt/WP this week. Hey, what the hell happened to the Scoobie?
He's like Scoobie who?!?

From when I first got my SC3:
My SC3 after the front plate delete and some custom parking light LED's after I used the "Shake and Bake" method to restore them. Lookin' sharp now:
