Default gs cd player??

i don't want to change out my stock head unit for an aftermarket but i need a cd player that actually works with my burned cds.

does anyone know if the GS 6 disc changer will hook up with our stock SC headunit?

My understanding is that, as long as the replacement CD changer is a pioneer product it should work fine.
But this is an advice that I got from BestBuy... so hopefully someone else will confirm.

Their aren't any aftermarket or other Lexus CD changers that will work w/ the SC3/4 OEM connection.

If you want to hook up an aftermarket cd changer, you will probably have to hook it up through your FM radio.

The changer is not made by pioneer...just for reference.

The other model changers will not work with the pioneer SC stereo.

Lastly, all years of the SC changer play CDR's

Odd.

I have never had a problem playing CDR's. I actually bought a CD from the store and had a problem the other day...but then I burnt it to a CDR and no problems.

Hmm..

I own a LS and I've never, ever, had trouble playing CD-Rs. I constantly swap in-n-out CD-Rs since I burn new CDs each week.

I traded my SC's 12-disc cd changer because the lenses broke and it would have cost 300-400 bucks to replace, so I traded my 12 disc with my friend's uncle for a 6-disc GS cd changer. It is compatible, the only problem is the angle of the cd changer. Unlike the SC, the changers opening is not on top. The GS cd changer is long, but it will fit in the SC's cd changer slot. The only drawback is each time you need to change CD's your going to have to take out the carpeting and lug that 6-disc out of there.

I believe it's the old GS model. He just swapped with me and said it should work and it still does. The old bad thing is the clamps isnt the same as the SC. I'll try to find a manfucturers part number later.

I play CD-R's in my stock changer in my 96 ES all the time. Perhaps the lense is dirty, that caused some problems in my home CD changer.
