Help! Fuel Filter Replacement keeps leaking
Hello All, I've been a member a long while back and been away for away and can't remember my login or what email I set the account up with so I had to create a new account and need some help. I bought a fuel filter years ago and finally got around to changing it. It is the original manufacture filter, not an after market one. I brief on some tutorials and seems easy enough. I drove the car to where I only a little left. I remove the two in line nuts from both sides. Let the remaining fuel drip all the way out. Then remove the two mounting screws and removed the old filter. Put the new filter in. Put the two mounting screws in. Then lined up the two in line nuts and tighten them good. Pour the gas back in and primed the engine a few times. Attempt to start the engine and the fuel gushed out from both end of the filter. Let the fuel gush out all the way. Loosen the two in line nuts and kind of wipe them down making sure nothing was on the threads. Put the two in line nuts in again and tighten them...seems pretty good now. Put gas back in and attempt to start the engine and the fuel gushed out again. I'm letting it drip all out again as I'm typing this up. Any ideas? I'm out of ideas. I'm about to put the old filter back in and see if it leaks or not. Any help is GREATLY appreciated. Oh, it's a 1994 SC400. Filter part # 23300-50040, checked an it's the same number as the old one.
Thanks,

The fuel fittings on these cars stink. When I had a 95 I bought an o.e. filter and it was really bad. So I just bought a 93 and am going to try a purolater. I believe there should be an o-ring on the end of each fuel line. Sounds like either yous are gone or your just not getting the nuts tight enough.

I just got done putting the old one back in viola, no leaks. Strange. I didn't see an o-rings at all. Before I put the old one back, I did another side by side and can't tell the difference. Same part number. I'm just glad it's back to normal now...just wish the new filter would of work. Thanks for the reply.
