I had to change the suspension bushings and shocks. For some reason even with little driving it went soft.

I can't remember what I paid individually but the whole thing cost me like 5 grand. In the 5 grand it included new tires, oil change, tranny fluid service, radiator flush and had most of the seals and filters changed.

I Chose Lexus of Greenwich. Turn around time is super quick. The whole thing took less than 2 days and got a free loaner for those 2 days and they are open 5am to mindnight.

I would go to a reliable mechanic if you can find one. I stopped going to Lexus of Greenwich not because of service but because of cost. A buddy of mine's cousin is a mechanic in NY and he has been great with pricing and time.

I live in Manhattan during the week and sometimes stay over @ my house in Stamford CT time to time. I probably will be in queens area this weekend if you want to check all the things that I got repaired or etc etc.

I bought my SC400 from a private party, but I knew the guy well. since the guy had 5 cars he just needed to make room for his new porsche 911 cabriolet thats why I got it so cheap.

I have not tried any other dealer besides Lexus of Greenwich but I can't seem to imagine that any other lexus dealership in good neighborhood being bad.

Thanks a lot for the info. I'm currently at college right now which is about 5 hours from my house, and I don't have my car with me. Thank you for the offer though. I'll take you up on that later on though when I am home. Thanks again for your reply.

Well, I went to see the car today and put money down to hold it. It's beautiful! It's black with the gold package and I've never been a fan of gold but this thing is pretty. The OZ wheels compliment the car very nicely (although I see some 18" in the future). It's got a few small imperfections, but it looks really good for a 9 year old car. The paint needs some tlc. I'm reading about the Zanio Brothers care products in another thread.

No leaks. It's been taken care of. Thanks for the input.

No, small rock chips. Everything shows on black. It's been touched up. It should really take well to a good polish treatment. After I get it fixed up I'll post some pictures.

I picked up the car and it is fabulous! The guy that owned it bought it new and only drove it on dates and weekends. It's as clean as you would ever hope to find. He really took good care of it. He had us buy it through a dealer so that he could use it as down payment on a new sc430.

I can't find anything wrong with it. The spedo needle is starting to go out a little, but only when it gets up to around 50mph. The gold emblems are showing their age, but that shouldn't be a big deal. It didn't have heated seats or traction control, but I think I can live without it.

Anyway, I love this car! Thanks to everyone for your opinions. I'll be ordering the Zaino products to get this black beauty shining it's best and take a few pictures for the gallery.

Fastfwd,
Congratulations on your purchase. A month ago, I purchased a 1992 SC400 for $13,500.00. I bought it with 39,000 miles and it is fully loaded; Traction control, heated seats, moonroof, and nakamichi stereo. I also received all keys (4 of them), the original 1992 brochure, and the original MSRP window sticker. Also got two sets of wheels; original chromes and silver wheels with snow tires. All service was complete and the car was garaged all the time. No scratches or dents, and no body work was ever performed. Considering I work for Kuni Lexus in Denver, I have looked at over 100 of these vehicles to buy. If this vehicle was on my lot, we would ask for $16,999.00, and might discount it a grand. I got lucky, and bought it from a private party. I could of bought a newer SC400 with higher miles, but I decided to wait for a really low mileage 92-94 SC4. 92-94 were hand built, good choice.

I wish that I was in your position to shop for a car. That sounds like you got one hell of a deal. I'm sure that I paid too much for mine, but I don't think that I would have found another in this good of condition so it was worth a little more to me. These are fantastic cars!

projectsc,
Actually it was a female who sold me the car. She stopped by the dealership to see when the 2003 RX300's were coming in. She wanted to trade her 1999 RX300 and the 1992 SC400 for a 2003. To make a long story short, I told her I would take the SC off her hands. She drove the car on weekends and she wanted to sell the car to make room for her 2004 RX300 coming this March. She kept her 1999 RX300, since there really is no significant major changes from 99-03, except for some minor interior and exterior cosmetic changes.

Wow, you lucked out! I'm hoping I will too. I have seen some good deals now for SC300 but I just don't have the money right now or a garage to put it in over winter. I did see a SC300 for 8k with 80k miles on it. But something seemed fishy about it and I was at college at the time and the car was closer to where my house was. The good things about Lexus is that usually older people usually own them so a lot of the times they just want to make room for the porsche or just don't need it anymore
