Listed as having every option and in showroom condition. OZ wheels (not my pick of wheels tho). New tires.
What do you guys think? I see that Kelly Blue Book for this car is more like $14,500. Dealer price is over $17,000. This is from an individual. I just really like the idea of a nearly new condition sc400. Can I find a newer one for that kind of money if I look around for a couple of months?

Yea he did. Its the name of the thread. Its got 34K. I'm guessing its a SC400 since he said it would be nice to own a SC400 with low miles
Oh ya that does sound like a pretty good deal. Especially considering the incredibly low miles and near mint condition. This car doesnt even sound like its broken in. Plus it has all options so I dont think this is one to pass up. Just my opinion though. You'd be real happy with a low milage SC.

That sounds right. You should add about 2,000$ to the 14,500 because of the low mileage. You will have a almost new car that is better than most new cars for considerably less than a chevy cavalier.(lol) If the car is mint buy it. If not I want to know where it is.

Well, you guys hold off and let me take a look at it. I'm pretty sold on it without seeing it yet. I hadn't thought of doing a nationwide search until after I posted this question and I see that there are quite a few sc400's out there with many more miles and asking $17,000.
Thanks for the opinions! I'll soon be an owner.......

Yeah, I wish it were at least another year newer. Your signature shows a sc300 is that the '97 you are referring to? I don't think that I will find a sc400 that new for $17,000. I'd take the extra miles for it, but I don't see any on Autotrader anywhere in the country. I'm not going to travel across country for one anyway so this may be the best that I'm going to find.

yes. mine is a SC3. i looked around for a while before buying mine and saw a couple of SC4s (97) for about $20000-21000. the main reason i got a SC3 was because of gas consumption and i already had a LS400 with a V8.
maybe you might want to consider paying a little more and get a 97 or newer SC or get a 97 or newer SC3 for around $17000-19000.
just my 2 cents.

Take low miles over less age. These cars just haven't changed enough over the years to make a big difference. A car with 34K is basically a two year old. This is exactly what I'd be looking for if I didn't already have mine.
Get the VIN and go to your local lexus dealer and have them give you a service history printout. Look for continuity and uniform distribution of the miles over its lifetime for indication that the odometer is ligitiment. If it is, it will be better than most new cars available today.

First of all, go for a test drive and check the power steering pump, cause that will cost you an arm and a leg. Get a car history report and make sure the electronics are all in working condition, especially the odometer. If everything works, buy this car immediately, it's hard to come by. You could just always upgrade to the pre-97 look or better yet buy an auto couture kit.

Expect to go through a $1700 tune-up. A car that old will probably need a rebuild on the power steering seals, a new timing belt, new caps and rotors, plugs, tranny flush, etc. I would confirm what was done on the last tune-up.

about 3 years ago I bought a 1992 SC400 with 23K dealer serviced miles for $12,300. I know I got a good deal. Here are some of the things I had to get done in the 2 year period since I got the car due to age rather than wear I think.
Power Steering pump
Valve adjustment
Full Tune Up
Transmission Mount
Engine Mount
Dash lights (not done yet)
AC compressor
O2 Sensors (just 2 of them)
Suspension
Heat sensor (didn't have heat for 2 weeks)
Transmission seals (did this 2 times already)
Now I have 62000 miles on the car and I had no problems for the last 1 year time. I think these cars age more with time than miles. I would take the higher miles and newer year than older car with less miles. But I stil have to say for a 11 year car it runs GREAT!

Hey VSsc400 if you don't mind me asking what was wrong with the suspension? Also how much did it cost to fix those things? Also which dealer did you pick your SC from? I live in NY and CT is only about 40 mins from my house. Also are there any Lexus dealerships that I should watch out for? Thanks inadvance.
