Default Gotta get my car to stop shaking!!!

Ok i have a 96 sc300 with 178000 miles on it, its pretty good while driving but when I get to a stop light..... shakes like ish. What should I start replacing to remedy this? Motor mounts? Bushings? Control arms... obviously I want to refresh everything as far as my suspension goes and more than likely upgrade alot of the arms, but what makes the most difference so I can start with that?

motor and transmission mounts would be the first things I'd change

So it's shaking when you step on your brakes? Must be disc brake rotor or brake pads.

At standstill? I'd be guessing motor/gearb ox mounts from what you've posted. What is the engine idling at?

I'd say the motor mounts.. Make sure they are tight and not dry rotted..

if you're saying the steering wheel shakes when you apply the brakes relatively firmly, I'd get the front rotors turned. maybe a pad change as well if necessary

If the car only shakes when you're at a stoplight, most likely it is due to your transmission and engine mounts losing their elasticity. If they haven't been replaced for those 170k miles, they're done. Replace them.

If the car is also shaking while you're driving, it could be the other drivetrain components you mentioned. If you have the money, I'd recommend doing a complete overhaul on all those suspension components. Safety first!

It really shakes when I'm at a stop light. I was thinking also that it was probably the mounts that were shot.. I think I'll start with those, also it idles at around 8-9 hundred rpm and doesn't jump around or anything.

Does anyone have a Link to a DIY thread on changing the motor mounts?

I don't think there is a DIY with pics for the engine mounts install simply because the space is too tight, but from what I've read you just need to jack up the car(in front of course) high enough for you to fit under, then jack up the engine underneath(somewhere solid) then you can already reach the engine mounts and exchange them.

Sounds straight forward enough
