Default Want to replace just the speakers in my Nakimichi system...

I currently have only sound coming out of my front two door speakers and my front two tweeters. Also, my sub works, but if I put the fade to the back, all you hear is the rumbling of the bass.

I'm thinking about just replacing the two speakers in the door, and the 2 on the back deck and maybe the sub. I want to keep the car as stock as possible and really don't want to change the radio.

What speakers would be good, just any 4" multi-way speakers or do I need special Ohm, etc.

What about the sub woofer, how many inches and what would you recommend. Event with only a few speakers, it doesn't sound that bad.

Also, what my chances that my connections are loose in the back? I'll have to give them a look.

Loose connections are proly not your problem, just old outdated worn out speakers. It also might be your Nak amp.. In this case, you do have other speakers working, then prolly just wore out rear speakers. Go with a coaxial or something.. The 5 1/4 fit perfect using the stock holder ring in place. I chose to cut metal and place a pair of JL Audio 6x9's and a pair of Polk Audio 10's in the trunk.. Took out the factory sub to help vent the sound into the cabin.. Redone all the wiring also.. Check out the radio/electronics sections and a thread by Raine.. Very good DIY writeup..

So putting in some decent coaxial 5 1/4 should work? Anying in particular spec wise I need, 2 ohm, 4 ohm, etc? I just disconnect the old speakers, remove them, and put the new ones in? I don't have to mess with the amplifier or anything?

You do not have to mess with the wiring at all, just hooking up the new ones and placing the new speakers in there new bracket/holder.. The back seat has to come out too. Four ohm will be fine. The sub us actually a 2 ohm, at least mine was.. I had the NAK sound system.
