I bought one from ebay and been using it for about 2-3 years now because my black was chipping off lol. So far just scratches but nothing peeling off. I use it as a mirror sometimes lol...

I Used airplane paint stripper and just removed the black off of the pillars, aside from what they say, it looks really nice on my car, ill have pictures up tmrw.

Good idea to use a paint stripper... I will do it to paint them flat black with bumper paint

I suggest you use primer first or the paint won't stick to the stainless steel.

Using stripper is prolly the best way, so nothing is sticking out, and it looks flush i guess. Theres already chrome on it, and if you have a 97+ your tailights have chrome trimmings, ur windows, ur antenna. Go for it.

Just a lil FYI but i had chrome wheel well thingys & the chrome side pillars on mine and it look AWFULLLLL... to each his own but dont spend a heap on it, chrome just dont look right on the SC for some reason.

so i was going to actually do this yesterday, and came up with the idea i should paint it black or match it. just because i don't want it to look ricey/tacky.

avu858 you can pull the chrome off but still think the black looks better.
