Well, i dunno about you, but 50lbs savings is still 50lbs savings. Man i didn't know the SC hood is almost 80lbs!!! That's 4x the weight of my RX hood (18lbs, all aluminum). BTW, how much does a 300 weight? I'm figuring that by changing the exhaust i can save another 30lbs. I think the 1jz soarer is a bit lighter too cuz no leather interior and no sunroof. Maybe I'll be as heavy as a supra

ON a more serious note, i am interested on a hood. I want a vented one because it should help with the FMIC i'm planning to stick there. Another thing... Asl long as the hole for the vents is far enough in front so that it sits in between the engine and the radiator it shouldn't matter rain wise. If the holes are further back then maybe there should be a design for rain gutters in fiberglass. If you check out www.rotaryextreme.com, Chuck made a copy of a Scoot Hood and has some nice pics of the MASSIVE vents it has (kinda helpul for the uber hot rotaries) and most importantly the rain guards it comes with. Maybe you can drop him a email and see if he can take closeup pics of it.

I'll call Denis at Tap Recycling tomorrow and put a hood on hold. I've done a lot of searching on the East Coast and either they don't have one, it's too damaged, or they won't ship. Coming from CA it's going to be around $400 but at least it's only $45-50 when split between the buyers. As of right now the Veilside style is the 'winner.' I'll post where the group buy stands within the next 2 days. Thanks!

I spoke with Dennis at Tap Recycling this morning. They currently do not have a hood in stook but he's going to do some local searches and get back with me soon. The GB will start when I confirm we have a hood on hold.
