Default taillight headache

My taillights stopped working(long story), the blinkers and brake lights still work but when i turn my lights on my tails dont come on. I wired them to a switch for now but i want to fix the problem. I brought it to a mechanic and it took them 2 days to tell me its the combo switch and integration relay and it would cost almost $1000 to fix it. What can i do to diagnose if these are the actual problems?

Do your front parking lights & interior lights work? If so it shouldn't be a major issue to make the tails work again.

when you turn your tails lights on, do the parking lights up front come on? if not theres a fuse inside the car on the driver side wall fuse box, i believe its a 15amp fuse, cant recall the number right now but that seems to be most logical problem, and cheapest fix if its not that then ill look into more on the taillight electricals for you and see wht i find, update back and let me know
