I have carbon fiber vinyl on my wood since it was faded, I am pretty happy the way it turned out though

[QUOTE=jayclapp;6587402]The 92 SC400 has a highly polished polyurathne finish on the wood. The wood is actually a veneer on an aluminum panel. It' really a high quality product. It won't warp and all you have to do is occasionally wax it with car wax. My wood still looks factory perfect and I am the original owner of this machine. [SIZE="4"]I can't imagine painting over the wood!

same here, wood grain is something you only find in luxury cars, please dont ruin it by painting over it, changing it to carbon fibre or vinyl.

Its wood veneer and it can be refinished like any other piece of wood.

You strip it, sand it , stain it and spray it with a finish of your choice.

The fninish by the way will be hard to get like the factory, its flawless and glossy, hard to do for the first timer.

Asterik...I'll be doing my BMW 330ci trim in 3M-Di-Noc matt carbon fiber here in the next week or so. I like how your SC looks with it as well! I was also considering doing my SC black interior with it to. (For sure the BMW wood in the E46's look like crap, so it's a no brainer there, MANY E46's guys are doing it!)) How difficult is it to do the dash wood panel on the SC? Did you have to remove the dash to get to the vent trim or did you install the vinyl with dash trim in place? Door panels and shifter are a no brainer, it's the dash trim I am curious about.

@dwebb99 I actually worked on this with my brother. We were restoring the interior of my car so we took everything out. He took the wood pieces out (even the door panel ones, we took the door panels off to dye the speaker covers) and cleaned them and applied the carbon fiber vinyl with a heat gun so it would mold around the edges and stick on much better. The carbon fiber vinyl is a tougher material than the other vinyls that are similar to a film material.

That looks bomb as well but I have been told not to do carbon fiber over the wood by a couple people because I want it to look as if lexus decided to take the SC and make a limited number of turbo'd 300's but thank you so much for taking the time to post pics!

Then just make it "look" like Lexus on the "Turbo" model, had the carbon fiber trim. What's the big idea here...? Your really not fooling anyone that knows anything about Lexus's models. Everyone knows they didn't make a turbo version SC nor used anything but wood for their interior trim. A mod is a mod is a mod. Also, if you don't like the 3m Di-Noc you can peel it right back off and try something different. It's not that expensive and you can buy small/cheap samples via Ebay. Plus, it is suppose to have a ten year life span. Just read about it. Every 3M product I have ever used has been top notch! They make excellent products.
