Seriously though, there are dozens of threads debating which is better you can find by taking just a moment to search.
My opinion from reading hundreds of them (and I'm not an expert):
1) both are very good motors and are over-built / reliable.
2) the 2jz is a newer design and has potential to make more power either via adding a turbo (NA-T) or beefing up an OEM 2JZ turbo such as came in the Supra (2JZ-GTE).
3) the 1jz can also make great power and is considered a less expensive motor to buy/build
Here are a couple of those threads:

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sc-...hlight=1jz+2jz
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/per...hlight=1jz+2jz
and about a hundred others like them. Please try the search tool to locate them and read up![Smilie](https://www.clublexus.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)

^^LOL
It's not so easy to say 1jz is better than 2jz-ge or any way you put it. 1jz are higher revving less torque (assuming both are turbo), 2jz-ge no turbo from dealer 3.0L vs 2.5L and the list goes on.......... there is a lot of reading to do and you will find out what engine will work best for you.
1jz-gte = 2.5L turbo
2jz-ge = 3.0L non turbo
2jz-gte = 3.0L turbo
