Default brake and night lights error won't quit!

ok, i took off my left rear tail light, put it back on, and when i have the headlights on, i get that graphic on the dash that my tail lights aren't working. i checked and i don't have any lights on my rear left set signaling that my lights are on.

second, i put in a couple of red led bulbs in 1 tail light. the tail light is working fine but i get that same error, but the thing is that the brake lights are working fine.

oh, and here's a pic of the tail light i just finished.

Default Way too efficient!

LED bulbs do not draw enough electrical current to tell the "diagnostic" circuit that the bulb is good. You have to add about 27 ohms (10 watt resistor) in parallel with the LED bulb to kill the diagnostic indication.

Don't mix up the 1156 bulbs with the 1157 bulbs.
The 1156 is just a one setting.
The 1157 is two setting. It gets brighter when u step on the brakes.

we are supposed to have 1156 bulbs for the brake lights, correct? that's what the literature at pep boys said.

any idea about the top row not lighting up?

When you take out your rear lights... On the actual housing, you can see 1156/1157 ##'s written in the plastic.

Look at the rear of your car.
For the left cluster, its the most bottom left light that is 1157

For the right cluster, its the most bottom right light that is 1157
