Wow, I sure came to the right place. I love all the different opinions. As for what I'm looking for...a little fun and to light 'em up every once in a while and it's got to look great. I'm pretty handy with a wrench, but don't have shop or space to do major work. This would be an "extra car" (have es for daily driver) to play with, so I would do most minor mods my self. Sold the '91 Celica GT is was playing with about 6 months ago and need something else
I think I learned my lesson w/that one. Bought it Lien sale and spent $$$ and time just getting it road ready. I'm in California, so prices probably a little higher...and as far as the chickies, I'm not dead, but I've been married for 27 years to same woman (that's only one foot in the grave, right???
Thanks, again everyone. Keep you posted...

I really want a stick. Has anyone had the manual put in a 400? How did it go? Would you do it again?
I'm going to let my ignorance show and ask again what's the difference between a 1J, 2J and R154?

A 3500 pound luxury car isn't really one you should be modding for cheap. If you want something cheap to mod getting something with a 4cyl that you can easily get bolt on parts for.
ae86/s13/s14/fc/ect are easy and cheap to get parts for
1UZ's never were made from the factory with a manual transmission, so the only way to do the swap is buy an adapter kit. They usually run between $1k-1500 after its all said and done, plus the cost of a tranny(W58 being the cheaper option, R154 being the more expensive but also stronger option)
1JZ is a 2.5L twin turbo, 2JZ-GE(the engine that comes in sc300's)is a 3.0L naturally aspirated motor, the 2JZ-GTE(coming in MK4 Supras and Aristo's) is a 3.0L twin turbo motor.
R154 is the tranny that comes on a 1JZ-GTE.
Next time please just search google.
