I've been having problems with idle speeds so I started looking for problems. I'm pretty handy but with my knowledge, looking for vacuum problems is nothing more than checking for cracked or loose hoses and spraying areas with starter fluid.
With that said, I found this and have no idea what it is and what problems its absence brings. A 3/4" hose was cut and reattached bypassing the entire area.

Check vacuum lines around the throttle body and fuel pressure regulator( not sure if these cars have one stock) my mustang have one and a lack of vacuum to the regulator was causing my car to have a high, surging idle. Also a sticking throttle body or iac valve could be a culprit as well. Good luck and keep us posted
