Please educate yourself on art of retrofitting. Your eyes will open, and (with retrofitted projector on your SC,) you will see what the buzz is about.
Honestly, I get a little what you are saying. Life is short and you should enjoy doing anything that makes you happy. If you feel like spending $3,000 for a 300hp engine to push a 4,000lbs car around that's great. If you feel like spending $3,000 on a 10 day vacation in Hawaii, fantastic. I'm not personally attacking the OP. I'm sure there is a benefit if you need to upgrade your lighting. It's your time and money, do what you want.

Who was complaining about retrofits again?

Nice job buddy. Retrofits (tsx, s2k, etc.) are a million times better than the stock projectors.

Ok, this is weird, I was just about to post up my retrofit that used the same method, same projectors (Morimoto mini H1's) and even my car is the same color, except I used shrouds and didnt have to hack my cosmetic inserts. That's just too weird

P.S. I'm aware that my bondoed lip is destroyed, my cousin decided to take my car rally racing when I let him borrow it

very nicely done, whered u pick up the MINIs? i was looking into doing this but im also thinking a whole different setup

@cmh ^^ deff do it, black on black headlights are the best, and gives u the chances to clean ur lights and projectors while waiting for paint to dry

At first i thought retros were a waste of money. I would not personally ever buy a set. But i was lucky enough to win a set off TRS.

I got FX-R's and when i tested them out holy crap. They go far and continue to have their cut off line be sharp

Thanks everyone for the comments whether positive or negative.

sc300jz, I chose mini's over tsx because the mini's are bi-xenon. For some reason, the exposed projector doesn't bother me. I think it looks kind of cool. I'll see if I can get side pictures to show you how it looks. And btw, the FX-R is DEFINITELY too large to go into our housings. I have an extra set of FX-R 2.0 and 1.0 that i tried to squeeze in there, and the bowl is just too large.

mattstar, great minds think a-like. Since you have h1's, your projector should be smaller than the d2s I used. I guess that's why I had to start destroying my bezel. Looks great, good job.

I did a retrofit because it benefits my driving habits. I drive all times of day and night. My s2000 has such a wide field of vision, I thought why not my SC? People buy plug and play HID kits all the time, I'm just doing it the proper way so other people won't be blinded. Plus, it only cost me about 150 and a few hours of my time.

blacksc4, if you're looking for MINI's, I have some extra sets from friends that fell through. https://www.clublexus.com/forums/2ge...rojectors.html

and to anybody that cares, here's a link to my GS retrofit, and a friends IS retrofit.

Kaydee, the projectors already had the solenoid inside. So no extra work besides tapping into the high beam wires for power/ground.

*snip
I wish I would have read this before ordering my FX-R projectors, but since I had them, I had to make them fit. After a ton of trimming to the projector, I managed to get them in there and centered in the factory shroud. It was a total pain, but it is do-able. My next set will be minis though :P

hate to bring this back from the dead. but I just made some observations about OPs pictures and Mattstar;s pictures and some other pictures i found comparing the two projectors (d2s and h1).

according to this image, the projectors are only millimeters in difference.

and what I've noticed is that MAttstar removed alot more material from the back housing than the OP did to offset the depth of the mounting position.

this leads me to believe if you remove the same amount of material from the back housing as Mattstar, then the D2S projector will fit without cutting the chrome housing and exposing the sides of the projector such as OPs end result.
