i remember you calling me about my old clutch form my blown w58
i told you that damn thing would crap out on you lol
im surprised it lasted that long
get mc r154, strong single disc clucth, some extra hands to help, and some cold beer and stop worrying about a tranny
as thats what i did
Yea, I cant lie, I beat this w58 when I was on twins...&it last about a month or alil more when I did the single turbo & injector swap...
I wish it was that easy...but no worries im puttin another w58 back in today, & I swear im savin for a r154
ugh, this makes me not want to mod my soarer anymore seeing as how its my dd but sorry about your luck man. hope everything wors out for you. keep cl posted if you do a swap though!
that sucks. i'm still on on the original w58 for over 1 1/2 year of abuse and still holding, but for how long? who knows lol. and i'm pretty sure the new turbo is making more whp than the old turbo did at the same boost level.
Although the v160 is a beast, it does have issues.. Have you seen the FS threads where ppl are selling them with not being able to run in 6th gear or 3rd gear pops out or, this gear grinds on high revs??
regardless of the trans, you will can have an issue...
id take my chances with the v160 witch is way im going and im sure there are problems with many trannys but ill take the one built in germany and built to handle the power.. roll the dice

Clearly.. I would too, as well, go with the V160....
I wouldnt say it was "built" (back in the 90's) to handle over 800whp power without any major hiccups. I am sure Getrag, in their right mind, didn't expect these transmission to be pushed that hard. But I could be wrong.
Is it tranny or rear end you said you changed rear end could be rear end winding. Was torsen put into the rear end was it set up properly .. gears could be making the winding noise

The soarer diff comes factory with the torsen diff, we didnt put a lsd unit in the diff, it was already in it...all I did was take off the sc300 diff & put on the soarer diff.
one of my friends went through two R154's in his supra with 300 RWHP, and two other friends go through R154's with less then 400 rwhp..
I wouldn't pay alot more for a R154, but if it was slightly more then a W58 i guess i would get it.. I just thing the 1st gear failure is so common in them they aren't worth paying double the price of a w58 for.
