+1

Just chiming in with my own personal experience.

Including my 97' SC400, I've owned a lot of vehicles that require Premium fuel : 95 Prelude DOHC Vtec, 97 Lincoln Mark VIII, 2002 Suzuki GSX-R, 2000 Integra DOHC Vtec,

None of them run right without premium fuel: low power, bogging/misfires.. especially on the Sportbikes,.. they don't like anything other than premium.

Wow. Thanks for the reminder of how much worse it is for car lovers in Britain. I pay less than half that to fill my SC300 here in Southern Illinois (Midwest U.S.).

Absolutely I run premium...my 1994 SC 400 is the pickiest car I have ever owned...not only do I put only 93 octaine in it but I also make sure to get it from a top tier station, as the quality of the gas is NOT created equally...http://www.toptiergas.com/...I have found my car will "miss" at idle at a stop light...I have done everything under the sun to it (plugs & wires, ignitors, dist caps & rotors, t/belt, 02 sensors) & i have contributed it solely to different fuels as none of the above made any difference...but different stations will make it better or worse

What you can always do is ask the stations if they sell unethanol gas. but like i said earlier as far as i Know Exxon/Mobile doesnt put in any in there gas.

On my 2001 is300 went to 87 n 89 octane. Start pinging. Went to 91 octane. Problem solved.
My 93 rx7, it has seen nothing but 91 octane.
95 sc300, didn't even try to put anything less than 91 octane.
All depends on what kind of compression you have on the engine.
High compression = high octane
Low compression = low octane.

the lowest octane you can get in Germany is 95
I take at least 98oct, often 102oct.
I have 28mpg with 98oct (Autobahn only)
More with 102oct

so yes, I always buy premium fuel

I wonder where you got that from. Maybe from a service sales guy at the car dealer? I heard too many same stories like that from them, who don't even know the difference between the oil grades, let alone the gas and engine power created by it. Lol.

1. Always Premium (in my SC).

2. Here the way I look at gas prices ... Spending 3.77 is the same thing as spending 4.00 in my opinion. So because I get more power, and better mileage out of Premium, I may as well buy Premium.
Either way, I'm putting 20 bucks in the tank.
Just do it in the morning when it's colder, so the fuel's more dense. You'll get ur money's worth then. Simple.

I only use premium. I normally only go to Mobil or Chevron stations since they are convenient and I have cards for both.

A .20 cent difference between 87 and 93 is only a $4.00 difference if your tank is bone dry. Having issues and breakdowns because of 4 bucks extra a week is not worth it to me.
