Default power steering quick solution

I found a temporary quick fix for my ps steering problems. I am not saying this is the correct way, but it worked in my case.
Problem: going through alot of ps fluid and then that hideous noise.
Solution: I didnt have a bunch of time to mess with it right then, but what i did was pulled the ps fluid container off the car, filled it up with carb cleaner, shook it, repeated 3 times. (**** looked like lake water) cleaned it up and back on the car. went to autozone and got some ATF stop leak and filled it up with that. bled the system correctly, refilled and viola! no more noise and i am not losing any fluid? Doesnt make sense to me but it worked. maybe it will work for some of you too?

what doesnt make sense you filled a leaking power steering system which uses ATF, with an ATF stop leak. makes perfect sense. i would have done it properly but to each his own

Why not just use the Lucas oil power steering stop leak?

Been using the high mileage ATF stuff from Valvoline. Works great. Not too keen on the stop leak power steering fluid.

The Lucas oil stuff works with any fluid. That's what I used in mine to stop a small leak in my pump. Going on 3 months with no issues. I'm usually not a fan of any of the "fix in a bottle" stuff either, but my mechanic buddy swears by this particular one so I gave it a shot.
