Default 5 speed transmission swap in NJ/NY area

Hi, I was thinking about buying a 1997 and up Lexus SC300 and doing a manual trans swap on it unless I am lucky enough to find a 1997 with a manual trans for a decent price. I was wondering if anybody has had a manual trans swap done in the new jersey NY area and if so what shop did it an how much did it cost? thanks

Look at my DIY, its not that bad. The only hard part i had to do was mating the tranny and the engine. But you just tighten each bolt slowly till it fully mates then you good!

Yeah, I took a look at it last night (nice write up and nice car). Unfortunately, I don't have the space or a garage to do something like that on my own right now. That's why I was checking to see if anyone in the area had a shop do it and how much did it cost. I can either get an older stock manual sc300 with high miles or I can get a newer 97+ cleaner SC and convert it in the near future. I know these cars last forever I had a 1992 SC400 with over 230k miles and when I sold it it still ran great. I sold it and bought a g35 but still missed the SC, lol

Not sure how uptight the emission peeps are in your area, but with a 96+ 5-speed swap, there will be some fun and exciting CEL codes that will have to be dealt with to pass emissions. Just keep that in mind.

No, if you can find a 5-speed ecu you should be in good shape as long as you are still pre-98. It just seems to be pretty tough to find one.

If you are OBDI you'll be fine with the auto ecu. If your OBDII you'll need a OBDII manual ECU to clear the CELs
