I think i screwed up my distributor timing. help
So when I went to replace the o ring I didn't mark anything before pulling the distributor. now when everything is back together the car won't start... would this be caused from the timing being off?if so how can I correct it without a timing light? I'm guessing a new distributor won't fix the problem?

you need to download the manual or do a search.
turn the motor over to TDC. align notches on the distributor, stab distributor.
just doing the above will get you close enough to start and run.
to set it accurately there you jump some pins on the diagnostic connector in the engine and from there you can turn the distributor to set base timing with a timing light.

i had somethign similar happen when i did my o ring. set the engine to Top Dead Center or TDC turn the crank pulley till the line on it lines up with the 0 on the timing cover plastic
i never screwed up the location of my distributor but i did have the ign rotor on the wrong cylinder so make sure that the rotor lines up with the number one cylinder wire on the cap when the engine is at TDC

id go outside and take a pick for ya but it is raining cats and dogs lol there should be a mark of some kind on your crank pulley once you find that and set the engine to TDC the easiest way i found to get the distributor in the right way was to find where the number 1 spark plug wire is on the cap and as you push the distributor in turn the ign rotor till it lines up with the number one plug wire when completely installed
good luck

Yeah its not happening. I even wiped the crank pulley off and no line, just the holes. is there another way to tell the motor is at tdc?or an alternate way of deserting the timing.

I had the same thing happen to me, your timing is off. grab 2 mcdonalds straws and connect them together making 1 long straw. then remove number 1 sparkplug and place straw inside plug hole, then turn the crankbolt till you see the straw reach Top Dead Center. if you remove the valve cover you can see a white dot on each camshaft pulley, they both should be pointing up. align the rotor w #1 plug. if you don't have a timing light you can use a cup of water placed ontop your cylinder head. the rotate the distributor till the ripples smooth out. but you must put it into base timing first by bypassing terminal te1 and e1 on the diagnostic port with a paper clip located infront the intake manifold. pm me if you need more help

your crank pulley doesn't have a timing mark? is it a aftermarket pulley? but just like everyone said, 1st you have to use a correct size socket and rachet and turn the crank pulley bolt clockwise until the line on the crank pulley lines up w/ 0 on the timing cover, then remove the distributor again and look for a mark on the distributer side and on the teeths then line them both up and stick it back in. this should get you to at least start the car. don't forget to use a timing light to set the correct timing after you get the car running.
