Default Rotor Rust....WTF

Ok, I bought a set of new, but aftermarket cross drilled/slotted rotors and only have about 400 miles on them. I noticed that they are rusting like crazy. I am not so concerned with the actual portion that makes contact with the brake pad, but the hub portion which seems to just sit there looking like *****. Any ideas fellas?

I tell ya, it sure does look like an eyesore with the nice rims, the painted calipers and then the ugly a$$ rusted rotors. You think people would not sell ***** like that, ya know. It is partially my fault for buying them, but damn, I don't like rolling around thinking people are looking at my janky rotors.

LOL! That's normal. Each time after rain I come to my car and see rusty rotors. After few minutes of driving it's all gone. You don't want to pain the rotors inside or outside because they may lead to brake failure.

What brand of rotors did you buy?

I am not talking about the portion that comes in contact with the brake pad, the actually surface area that is cross drilled and slotted. I am talking about the actually hub portion that the bolts go through. The disk portion cleans up nicely when I brake, but the other portion just stays rusted.

GS4to4, pm me if you want to know the name of the company, it was someone on here who runs the place and I don't want to get into a pissing match.

Usually new rotors come protected with a sealant to keep this from happening. After putting the rotor on and driving a little you will scratch the sealant off of the rotor with the brake pad. Aparently the rotors you're talking about doesn't have the coat of the sealant.

This is not a HUGE problem like what it seems to be. Take off your rims, tape everything up and paint the hub with high temp paint. That solves the problem, period.

Also with any kind of plating that you hear of, from experience, it doesn't work like you would think. The CAD plating would burn off and all you would have is a protected hub. Same thing if you buy rotors that are not plated, just paint the hub before you put them on.
