Default Headlight bulbs comparison (pics posted)

I took some pictures of my SC with Silvania SilverStar bulbs ($25 each) and my friend's SC with stock bulbs (this car is currently in my possession because he is staying in Japan until winter)

also, some pics of my LS with real HIDs and my SC together.

my SC's lights look not too much blue in real life (the camera picked up more blue than white for some reason)

check it out.

The silvania bulbs are very very white. I am quite satisfied with them but i want my lights to be more bluish.

I guess I will try PIAA super plasma (only availble in japan as far as I know). has anyone tried them??

i've had the piaa plasma from japan on my car for barely a year , since then i've done the same setup as lex400sc. the silvania bulbs will put out much higher output than the piaas. but the piaas look nice!

it's white with a tint of purple. same kind as a 6000K hid kit. similar.

Default I have the PIAA Plasma's...

there's like a series of plasma bulbs....

plasma FX

plasma blue
( i had these on a 240SX,... were pretty decent,... blue hue to them )

super plasma
( the one's i have now and in the 300Z - these have a purplish hue, with pink and blue in the spectrum)

i'm pleased with them,... could be a lil bit brighter,... i've seen a ballast booster for regular bulbs at ProTech in Austin that increases the current to your light,.... supposedly a intermediate fix for not wanting to do HID,.. however my take is it'd probably shorten the life of the bulb being it'd be ran hotter than design intent, and the ballasts are $300 for the pair,... so might as well do the HID thing.

hey jmai,
you were supposed to come down at 8 the same night? hm.. the only person i knew of was howie. same guy that worked on lex400sc's car did mine as well.

the HID's are E39, or bmw 5 series or bmw x5. both the same. i honestly can't tell if there is a flicker, since i'm always enjoying it inside the cockpit. But I'd have to say that they are bright. the pattern is the same as rich had posted on CL. I should post mine soon, maybe tomorrow or so. I need to study tonight.

Jmai, if you're getting yours done at "illusion" then maybe i'll drive up there to see your work too! He said that after his work on mine, he's going to stop for a bit because of school. IF you guys need anymore info, just let me know. pics should be up by this week.

Do-luck, are you kidding? The color flicker is my favorite part. I can see it happening in the reflection of car paint in front of me (shiny black and silver paint is the best), and in store window reflections. I like the store window reflections the best cause you can see the whole car in all it's high intensity glory .

You don't see blues and purples flickering in the reflection? There are a lot of roads and routes in my town where I get a good view of my lights flickering. A safe bet is to pull into a large office complex with low-cut metallic windows. Driving through the parking lot will give you a nice view of the color as you hit the speed bumps, drainage dips, etc. Maybe you just need to adjust your low beams up or down some.
