Default 1994 Sc300, NO POWER..

Hi guys.. been a while since I have been on here. I sold my 92' sc3, but I am back in the game now with a 94'. Problem I am having is as follows: At an idle, or free revving, the engine acts and sounds perfect. When I am in drive, or manually shifting it, and mash on the gas, it feels as if I am holding on the brakes. It wants to go, I can hear the engine wanting to go, but it wont get out of its own way.. I'm not sure if its a transmission issue, rear end issue, or if it is all in my head. Hell, it may be an engine issue, IDK. I do not have a check engine light or any kind of warning lights showing on the dash. The car has 164,293 miles on it. Any input would be greatly appreciated. i'm not sure if this is a known problem or if I am just screwed and have a bad transmission.. Any more input you may need, i'll be sure to respond quickly. This is my daily driver.

So remove the exhaust and see if they're plugged? Wouldn't that effect free revving it tho? (If they were plugged that is)

I haven't had a chance to service the trans yet. I do not know how it looks, altho, I do notice it goes into gear hard on first start up.(As in engaging into revers or drive..The jerking feeling of it going into gear) once it drives for a few minutes, it goes in and out of gear smooth. On cold start tho, it still shifts wonderfully smooth.

@IanWatson: There is a way to make the fuel pump run at full power all the time correct? Like running a jumper wire or something? That must effect fuel economy..

I can almost bet it is the fuel pump.. Have you checked you catalytics after testing the car. Especially the one on the bottom... If its getting red hot they could be plugged or you are running super lean.. I had the same problem and I changed the pump, and jumped the fuel relay and everything was perfect afterwards.

Well I did the 12v bypass (mod) today, I really didn't notice any difference. Maybe the idle raised about 100rpm, other than that, very sluggish. Transmission fluid seems fine. Good color, topped off at full. Maybe it may be mental? I came from a swapped 94' integra 5 speed. It has a cone filter on it(Previous owner installed) aside from that, the car is 100% stock. I'm stumped..

Yep, ~40PSI after the pressure regulator with engine not running. When running, ~40psi with vacuum sensing hose disconnected, ~30PSI with it connected.

Well, today was eventful.. As I was driving down to the shop at work, I heard a thud noise, followed by screeching.. Immediately shut the engine off, and low and behold... My Harmonic balancer/Crank pulley seperated lkeaving the pulley lie on the plastic cover below the engine bay.. Talk about a hassle.. It took me hours upon hours to find this stupid part.(Luckily enough, the radiator was untouched!!!) Toyota nor Lexus had the part.. Both were special order for roughly $385. Luckily enough, I came across a parts yard with a wrecked GS300.. Perfect!! Put the pulley on, put on the belt and fan assembly.. Fired it up, and no more squeaking.. And for some odd reason, maybe because ther alternator is able to keep the battery charged at full power, the car is running great! It actually moves when I mash the gas, and sounds pretty good too! Next step this Thursday is to do plug wires, iridium plugs, cap/rotor and oiul change. Hopefully this will get my fuel mileage up a little higher. not bad tho, averaging 350-380 per tank. The plug wires, come to fiund out,m have 1993 stamped on them.. original wires. I must have gotten lucky enough to find an un-molested sc300! I will keep you up to date if anything changes. Thanks for the advice!
