Got my LS400 brakes powder coated about a month ago but been lazy to post pics or even install them. Was hoping for a bronzish gold color but here's how they turned out. Tell me how you feel about them
I wasnt too pleased myself when I saw the outcome but the powder that was used on samples looked much different.
The car is black btw so hopefully it makes it look more goldish than it actually is
I hear ya, I had to do mine twice since I did not like the outcome the first time. I settled for powder coating them a matte black and they look great. As for the brake hardware, when I did mine I removed everything before they went into the oven.
I like them. What happens to all the rubber seals/o-rings when they heat them up to powder coat?
Typically you would disassemble the caliper. Split the two halves, remove dust cover retaining rings, remove pistons, remove inner piston seal and you're basically ready to prep for paint/powder coat.
I dont think they will look bad at all, especially since your car is black. Now had your car been garnet pearl like mine, well lets just say that at times I tend to resort to spray paint.
The color is interesting, maybe it will look better on the car? Honestly, that's the least of your worries. Those powder coated seals will become brittle for sure...you may want to fix this sooner rather then later. Just my 2 cents...good luck, and thanks for sharing.
