Default SC300 MAX MPGs

well hello club lexus, im in search of and trying to reach, the best MPG i can with my 96 SC300. ive seen people get 440miles per tank an i have even hit the 400 mile per tank a few times. but i want to go farther

i want to go the farthest with out having to tear out my interior to lighten the car or add a hydrogen injection system. my car is bone stock except for the K&N filter in the stock box. i have OEM sized Michellins on my car full weight. with a wise lip and origin roof spoiler. up to date on all my maintenance and i will be going on 3hr highway road trip soon so id like to test out my MPG gains there. cruise control doesnt work so i cant use that at highway speeds but i plan on slowly accelerating so the car shifts around 2000-2500 rpms. im also considering taping off places where air drag might occur. hood seams, around lights, things like that.

i guess my main question is, has anyone attempted a max MPG run befor and what were ur results?

Swap out your rear gear ratio with a lower ratio and you'll be golden.

def gotta look into that, just going to have to figure out what model and year to choose. i will also be trying a BFI eventually and ill have dyno proof if it does anything as well as a calculated MPG.

my plan for my 169 mile trip is to fill up to the very edge of the filler neck. drive 3hrs, record miles and refill. noting how much fuel i added to how many miles driven. then drive 3hrs home do the same and average the 2 numbers. does this sound like the best way to calculate or should i run the tank till the light comes on and record it that way. i would like the most accurate way

that 169 mile run will not be a sufficient indication of real world mpg. might as well fill up ur car, strap your car onto a dyno and let her run till gas runs out

On a trip from Los Angeles to Las Vegas, I was able to calculate 27 mpg on my SC300....I started the trip at zero and at 250 miles on my trip B meter...The fuel needle was still way above the half way point considering that with average driving, The fuel needle is exactly at the halfway point at around (Or close to) 200 miles.

98-00 SC400 vvt-i Rear End has a 3.266 Ratio, lowest for best price.

I would just fill your tank up, reset your trip, drive till your needle is under the last line and light is orange, fill your tank up, divide how much miles per gallon you drove and add what more you needed to fill your tank up to 20.6 on top of what you just put to find out how much gas was left and average it out. Add the average you got to your fill up and you should get it

Way to slow. Get a 1992 - 1997 SC400 3.91 differential.

Remove anything that causes drag like the roof spoiler and lip. Roll up windows. Close sunroof.

why do you think that is to low? i dont care about beating people off the line, this is my daily that i just want good MPGs with. as far as removing lip and spoiler im going to a show so i want to keep them on so i will just be taping the seams

I generally get 14-16 MPG, but I got about 20 MPG on a trip to and from a car show.

Fuel tank capacity 20.6 gallons. If you really wanna find out, get a 5 gallon jug of fuel, run arround till your out. Fuel just so you can get to the gas station Easy =)
