Dot 3 is called for in the manual. I bought the car with dot 4 and stainless lines. Getting ready to swap the brakes out with a TT set-up and I bought some more dot 4 for bleeding and refill at the local parts store for 4$ a quart. I forget the brand, but it was recommended as a bit higher quality.
