Default Can someone explain this to me?

How come an ls400 is this much faster than a sc400?

If I remember correctly from what I read, the IS400 will be equipted with a supercharged (or turbo?) V8 which will produce power somewhere in the 400hp. It's also a sport sedan with lighter weight than the sc400 being a luxury coupe. It may be designed to fight the M5 and the likes but by the time it shows up, the M5 will be running with a v10.

I couldn't get to the link you posted.

huh?

You say will be equiped. However, the time slip is for a car that is already in production. How can a heavy LS400 with almost the same engine as the sc400 get a whole second over as sc400 (assuming average for the sc400 is mid 15's). From jbrady's sig, he's done intake and exhaust. What's going on?

Amati thought you said "IS400 (is400)", not "LS400", and was referring to the IS430 Compressor concept that TTE designed. BTW, it's intended to head off the M3, the SRT GS430 TT would take on the M5 (two more weeks!!).

As far and dude's time slips, he does have a '99 model with 290hps and 300tq, limited slip differential, traction control, and he's powerbraking to 2300rpm. That would make it faster than a pre-98 SC400 without those toys. I don't know if his custom airbox or open exhaust did that much though.

I was trolling through jbradys old posts. He was running mid 15s before the mods.

I highly doubt that a new air box and no mufflers alone will drop his quater mile a whole second. That would imply that the LS400 was very poorly designed. Perhaps he learned how to drive between his 15.5 and his 14.6...

yeah, he must have learned how to launch his car, unless, he got a torque converter and ring&pinion set..filter mod and exhaust would give you some power, but not that much...
