Happy 9 years to me!
My birthday is in October and in September 2002 I was standing on a buddies car lot when he put a black SC400 out on the lot he had just gotten at an auction. I told him I should buy that SC for my Birthday present to myself. Grabbed the keys and took off on a drive. Next thing I know....... I own an SC400.
9 happy years later I have replaced lot's of cosmetic things on it, but mechanically I have only changed the Alt, PS and AC pump, and Starter. That's it! Bought it with about 146k on it and now she is pushing 250,000 miles. It is on it's ORIGINAL timing belt (hey it's non interference, who cares if it breaks).
She has been a fantastic car that even with it's small niggling issues, has NEVER left me stranded in 9 years. I even parked the car for a year, the battery went bad, the gas was 13 months old in it, and it started on a boost and has ran every day since! (which was 3 years ago).
What a great car. The value has fallen to null on these things, and they are really getting up there in age, but it is one damn solid car and it has earned it's spot in the driveway.
So I reflect back on it's adventures on this 9th anniversary.
Stock form in early 2004 https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sc-...56k-own3d.html
Bomex conversion in mid 2004 https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sc-...ex-inside.html
Bought it a playmate in 2005 https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sc-...new-sc400.html
Converted it into a 2000 in 2005 https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sc-...on-begins.html
Custom paint after the conversion https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sc-...k-warning.html
Nice photoshoot of new paint https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sc-...roduction.html
Snazzed up the interior lights around the time I did the exterior https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sc-...-sandwich.html
Tragedy as the car's custom paint was damaged in a storm https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sc-...o-the-car.html
The last photoshoot I went on with it... dang 3 yrs ago https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sc-...in-flames.html
So 9 years down and who knows how much longer to go! I loves me some SC..........

I'll be driving an engine on 4 tires being held together by a single piece of rusted unibody if I keep it that long LOL!
LOL well it's a non interference engine below late 96 so I don't care if it blows the belt into 1,000 pieces. Tow it home, time it, slap a new one on with a new tensioner.

Gonna have a rash of dead SC's with busted timing belts....... Don't let me sway anyone. LOL. I just know you're gonna have to pay the same either way and no damage is done so.........

Congratulations O.L.T. Since Santa wouldn't grant my wish to meet you last year I've come to the assumption that this is you (Oliver) Lee Thomas! The initials make OLT !
