sc300 in the 13s
I was wondering what it would take and how much money is envolved to get a sc300 5 speed into the low 13's. If i can get 12k for mky jspec mr2 turbo I was wondering it 12k would be enough to buy a used sc300 and mod it to get in the low 13's?

Hate to burst your bubble, but you'll need about 12 grand just to buy a nice SC3, let alone a turbo kit, because you'll have to run alot of squeeze to click a low 13, so you're better off with a hairdryer, figure twelve for the whip and another six to ten grand for the turbo setup, depending on what your goals are specifically. Toyomoto Stage 1 will get you there no problem, I think the kit is about $5500 plus install, don't know if you're looking to do the labour yourself or not. Then, by the time you're done with a clutch or valve body, meters, decent tyres, etc, it will definitely add up. If you can find an SC3 that's anywhere decent for around nine grand, find a TT front clip for another three, another grand or two for peripherals, clutch, and tyres, and do all the labor yourself, you can BPU the GTE motor to a low 13 for another grand or two, and you'd be all set for around 14 or 15 thousand, and that's if the planets aligned correctly........

ive seen 92 and 93 sc300's for as low as 6k. i figured a descent turbo like maybe a t67 or a t66. not huge but enough. 400hp is enough for me. I will be done. I figured i would just turbo the 2JZGE motor. the cheapest i found a supra tt motor was 5500.

no - it is just getting broken in at 80k. Is autotrader a bidding style site like e-bay? If so, then the final price will be higher. IF not, then 8k is a good deal. Of course, you will want to change the wheels, the stereo, the exhaust, the tc/clutch, etc, etc, etc, MORE POWER So I usually look for something that has some of those items done already. But that is a good price if the car is clean (title, paint, accident history, ownership records, etc.)
Good luck.
Good luck.

lex400sc: I highly disagree. The 2jz series has 7 main bearings, resin coated pistons, it is overbuilt. I can think of at least one member that has bolted a turbo on at close to 100,000 and run for another 20k or so. I'm at 106k and am not the least bit worried about it in the future. But the head will come off and be inspected as well as the internals and the clutch/flywheel. You do raise a valid point and that is something to consider in terms of overall condition.

dude definently. i just wnt to find a 5 speed with less then 100k. I just wnat a single turbo, FMIC, AFC, whatever is required to run like no more then 10psi i guess. enough to rip the tires off and sound ****en mean. I dont care if it runs 14's. if its got good top end power thats all i want. dont care about looks or anything. I just want a sleeper. my mr2 is quick and very fun little car. but i hate 4 cylinders. the turbo runs out of breath. it just seems as if they struggle top end. like 4 cylinders are quick but not fast.

Easy to do
buy a 92 SC3 5-speed
do a 2jz-ge motor swap(need motor, ECU, intercooler, etc)
buy phil's book
get all the bolton stuff
SC is around $8k
motor is around $3k with intercooler stuff
bolton stuff $1k
need a clutch in there too
good for around 380-400rwhp depending on tunage
installing it yourself is the only way to keep around $12k
this swap is without the 6-speed tranny; but you wanted to just run low 13s... this would prolly net you low 12s with traction
------------------
if you want someone else to install it there's another way
3" catback
3" test pipe
header
full intake
MKIV SupraTT fuel pump
direct port 150shot
drag radials
should be good to run some low 13s with a good launch

Bean, low 12's with a grand in mods on a GTE swap? No way. It's just not going to happen for that cheap, not even close. I think what I laid out was pretty accurate, don't know of a way to do it any cheaper than that, but good luck. Oh, and lex400sc, SC300T's car was turboed at 115k, and now has over 140k miles. SC300TURBO's car was turboed at 70k, and now has over 125k miles. Wolfy187's car also has over 100k, that new guy Wayne's car has 100k, and lexkid's car was turboed at 130k miles. Convincing enough?

So what you're saying is; its not possible to run low 12s with a BPU Supra? Since I've seen it done countless times; I'm sure you're not saying this
Don't make me whoop out the timeslips and dynoruns
On my car I don't plan on spending anymore than $1200 on the BPU mods... intake, downpipe, testpipe, catback, boost controller
