yeah i plan on going the supra stick with is300 steering wheel route, should be pretty fun with some boost, who needs a 5 speed then? hell if you wanted you could go all manual valve body with the supra stick that'd be sick.

Maybe I should be more clear with my words, I meant is doing the GS wheel and suprastick conversion (and what ever else is necessary for the mod to work) cheaper than converting a stock SC400 to a manual transmission ?

way I figure it, is300 wheel is $150, air bag is another $150(?), suprastick is $400 (including misc installation costs). Installation by professional, maybe $500? High side of $1200 (If my quotes are right). Additional upgrades would cost more.

r154 swap is $500 for trans, $1400 for quantum-auto kit,
add $1000 for misc stuff (drive shaft, pedal conversion, misc etc. stuff) total of $2900, on the low side. Doesn't include installation

I'll donate fifty cents.

I wish I could use the buttons on my IS300 wheels to control my radio instead. I hate to have useless buttons.

Wow this sounds awesome! Anyone know if Suprastick would work for a '97 SC400? I just went on their site and it's only almost $400 for this unit. I think this would make the SC400 a much more fun car to drive.

I haven't seen any solid answer on if this would work on a SC400. Most info I found was for 2j or 1j.

Well should considering the same trans is used. If this product does not work for you I am 100% sure that one of the other companies listed in the thread do.

Just so you all know, instead of going the suprastick route, anyone who has a pre 97 SC400 can swap out the 4 speed a340 for the 5 speed a650 that was used in the 98-00 SC400 and piggyback an ecu from an auto is300 or gs400 to use the e-shift. For those of you who have JZ powerplants you can just use an a650 out of an is300 and, again, piggyback an is300 ecu. You'll need the entire ecu since the transmission ecu is built into the the main ecu. This route requires a lot of electrical and wiring know-how but in the long run will be much easier. Also, as mentioned before, a stand-alone trans ecu could be used also.

R154 is overkill for a stock 400, if you're not going to make more than 350whp, save the money and go W58. As for the original question, I would go 5spd and I think it maybe cheaper too. W58 and all the hardware are cheap, the adapter plates are the one that can get expensive, not too sure what the going price is at the moment though.
