Default Paint dilemma

I got 4 estimate from each body shop. Now I dont know which one to pick... I have AC kit, just fyi.

1. $3000 body+paint, this guy is good with muscle cars and oem cars, not sure about body kits cars.

2. $5000 body+paint, probably the best body shop that deals with oem stuff, not much work with aftermarket body kits.

3. $6500 body+paint, A really good shop that deals with lots of aftermarket kits.

4.$8500 body+paint, Another good shop and usually handles lots of high ends cars and aftermarkets body kits as well.

What shop should I go for?

I'd go with the one that would do all the work I require at the least cost. But that's a no brainer decision. Ask each one what kind of paint they will use, how many coats of clear they will put, what brand of clear, turnaround time, warranty, etc etc..materials alone on a show car job run up to 3k, that may explain why too much price variations from those shops. Ask each one and put it all in a spreadsheet, easier decision.

I would ask them to show some of their previous work. Talk can be pretty cheap.

That sounds pretty expensive for the last three choices. However, you do get what you pay for. If money is no object, I would go with the third or fourth option assuming the paint comes with a lifetime warranty on the job. At those price ranges, I would expect a custom paint job with top of the line paint.

Well if it's the shine kit why don't you try fitting it all yourself? The fittment is great and as for the body shop I work in one all I can say is ask them about what paint they use ppg is top of the line stuff and how is there work warranty? Most shops won't cover cars that have been previously painted. I would say 4gs is about right for a good job but price doesn't always mean you will get the best look around. Good luck.

I'd want to know what kind of previous examples the $3,000 bid shop can provide. I've always pegged a decent paint job with decent materials and clearcoats anywhere between $3,500-$4,000k. Over that and I think you're getting into some serious territory.

Not sure how a body kit affects prices.

Under $3,000 to do an entire car I am not sure what I'd be getting these days.

all options are expensive IMO... u didnt mention if u were going with the stock color so im *** u ming u are.... in that case it would be really expensive and for those prices i would expect the paint job to come with vaseline. now for aftermarket change of color and blah blah blah the whole nine yards with painting jambs and removing windows they seem fair.

edit: in other words whats included in the price... those giving an opinion is all based on assumption because u didnt specify what was happening.

The body kit is installed on the car. I'm planning to go darker shade so yes price included door jams and glass taking off. They all warn me that if they break I would have to pay for it.

Yea, I hear you. Even if the car is parked, it can still be totaled, that why option 1 is looking good.. But if the guy does a bad job, I will have to suffer along with it until the car dies!
