In my hunt for my first 300/400, ive come to notice that the majority of the cars have tan interiors. So far the only colors ive seen with black(which i want) have been white, red, maroon. All other colors have been non black.

I can settle for an auto over a 5 speed, but i dont know if i can do tan lol. Anyone have good luck dying/painting?

The black interior is pretty rare. It only came on the 95-00 SC's. You can dye a tan interior with SEM dye, but it's a lot of work. It's best to get a car with a black interior already. The tan interior is so ugly and outdated.

I have to strongly disagree. While black is the best interior color for these cars, factory tan isn't ugly in the least. It's the easiest color to see damage on and many tan interiors are faded now. In good condition they look very good and with a black steering column you can have a factory looking setup with a black steering wheel. I prefer tan in my car and plan to keep it that way because it's a throwback to the 1990's.

My car has a black exterior and I think the contrast of color looks great.

Also, nobody mentioned factory gray which is also somewhat rarer than tan but not in demand.

I have the factory grey but my leather seats look kinda light blue.

I have to agree with Kahn on this one. Depending on the exterior color, the stock tan doesnt look bad at all.

Also now that it is mentioned, the grey interior is kind of rare..Other than myself and JJ823, I have only seen a couple SC's with the grey (Spruce IIRC is the correct name) interior. Which with the exception of my wood-trim, and carpet, it will stay that color..thats if I decide to keep my interior at all..

another vote for tan. my DWP sc3 would look cheap with black interior. a clean, mint tan interior looks so nice. i've had a few cars with black interior, including converts, ouch !

Yep, hate having gray/spruce. now that I've cleaned the carpet, the interior looks pretty nice. The only thing I need is new door panels, which are a b**** to find, and even harder to find affordable...

Other than the rarity, I love my gray interior. not bland like tan, not hot in the summer like black (my other daily has full black leather interior.... Just glad I don't live in texas)...

How is tan a throwback to the '90's/old school? IIRC you can still buy a lot of new luxury cars and choose to have a tan leather interior. Black receives all the hype, it is a nice color, however I personally think every single color option that the SC had is equally as nice. I love my grey interior.
