The t04r makes good power but lags with the .91ar. I wonder how it would spool on the 2.5l?

Default 1JZ-GTE vs RB26DETT comparo

Heh... I got around to scanning it in myself....

Here are the links (Big cos I Like quality)

Also with the 1JZ-GTE parts... Most are interchangeable with standard toyota parts... Oil filter is the same as a 96 Camry (Repco Z418), Spark plugs are NKG Platinums (same as supra) etc... Bills site has heaps of info on this, also worth checking is the ALSC site.

one other question for you. the car that i want to build has an automatic. i want a manual so im already going to have to do a swap. ive heard that the MK4 TT 6 speed will fit onto a 1jz. is this true? because i would love to have a 6 speed car and the MK4's tranny is pretty damn stout. thanks again for all your help guys.

ok, so my list should go as follows...

1. Get the Intercooler
2. Get the pedal set for manual tranny
3. Get a supra 6 sp.
4. Get stand alone computer.

What kind of stand alone computers are out there that are plug and playish for the SC?

Dimcorner,

If you get a 1JZ bolted up to a factory manual (goodluck!! ) you can run a A'PEXi Power FC

so will the 5sp hold up to high power?
Hey which Power FC do i get!?!?!? I have one right now for the RX7 and that thing works great!!

I tuned it once and got me a extra 50rwhp!

I didn't know they made PFC's for SC's.

Yeah they make the PFC for the Soarer, but only for manual transmission cars, otherwise (for auto) you'll have to get a separate gearbox control (say, out of a 7MGTE gearbox computer) and nut the wires that have to be spliced into the factory loom to get the PFC running properly.

The 5sp. is one of, if not, Toyota's toughest 5sp. box available. It's VERY rare but if you find one you'll be lucky!

hey another rotary owner! sweet! whats up Dimcorner. i thought your name sounded familiar, i think ive seen it on the RX-7 forum.

so i take it most of the 1jz cars came with autos. i guess ill have to dig up a manual trans for it after i get the engine in. oh well, had to do a swap anyways.

don't forget you can use the 5-speed from the 2jz-ge car... it'll do fine with stock turbo(s) power i'd think... the 6-speed is always an option later on

Yup! About 90% of 1JZ engines are fitted with a self-shifter, however these are also quite strong. The manual box, if you're able to find them here in Australia, cost approx. AU$2200 last time I checked.
