If you like that body style just get it.. I like the 1999 and up body style. That motor is built pretty strong, boost it and you will make a lot of power. They have that motor in different cars too.. not exactly the same but similar. I had a 2002 gt stock 4.6 on 10lbs.. 1st 2nd and 3rd that car was all over the place made 400hp and 412tq lol... instant boost also it had twin garret t3 ar 50. With a built motor i could've made a lot of power.
I dunno something about the v8 sound also, I love it lol.

It wouldn't hurt for you to actually comprehend what you read. Nowhere did I say I was walking all over 03 Cobra's, and I said "something" like 05 was when they got fast (something because who gives a damn, it's a mustang), another user said 03 was the proper date of when I was acknowledging the cobra getting "FAST" (as in faster than me). Don't make me waste my time anymore correcting your misinterpretations.

Honestly? No.
SN95 Mustangs have a lot of aftermarket support and the sky is the limit for engine performance, especially with the DOHC 4.6 "Modular" motors. The handling can be very, very good for road racing with about $10k of work put into the chassis (that isn't a typo). It's a solid platform.
Personally though I have always found 94-98's to be ugly and too rounded. Even Fox Bodies ('79-'93) look much better starting in 1985. Now, a '99 or '01 Cobra with the IRS and revised styling? Absolutely.
In fact, I nearly bought one from a dealership that had 50k miles just before buying my SC. I found it to be a great car that needed almost nothing done to it in stock form. I didn't get it because the sales staff decided to play games with their asking price and refused my cash offer which was actually their original asking price (avoid Gulliver USA in Westminster, CA).
The '04+ Cobras are faster, more sought after and more expensive commensurate with their factory supercharged engines but a '99 or '01 (there was no 2000 model) are extremely good muscle cars that can actually handle from the factory.
dreamsc300-- No, Cobras aren't Lexuses. They are Cobras. From a factory performance standpoint (as well as an emissions legal one) the '99-'04's are superior cars. You have to do a LOT of work to an SC300/400 to make it do what those cars can do out of the box. I love my SC but I bought it only after looking hard for deals on a lot of other muscle cars like a '99 Cobra, an '04 GTO (that was bright purple on purple), or an '04 STI.

Why swap for an ok powertrain wrapped around a crap body? Those cars drive like a 1980s Snapper lawn mower, where you can feel the different parts twisting at different times as you go over bumps. It's clear that 90% of the car's price went into the powertrain and that forced Ford to milk the same underpinnings for 20 years. It's cheap piled on top of more cheap.
If you're 18 years old, or if you live your life 1/4 mile at a time, swap. You already own a car with all the "speed potential" you could ever want so what's so enticing? I love the DOHC 4.6; it's just a shame that Ford didn't modernize the car when they made the engine. The 03+ Cobra is an even nicer engine wrapped in the same junky trimmings.
