Yeah the rear dash mat goes back over all this stuff. The stock sub grill is held in with clips that lock into the stock free-air. Witout that stock baffle, you'll have to get creative with presentation, either by cleaning up the opening in the dash mat or by figuring a way to use that grill again.

Well, today I have purchased a 6' by 6' 1/2" carpet padding/cusion material at Menards. It's almost identical to the one Lexus uses. Also purchased this foam tape. I will use both of them to secure the rear deck and also insulate because you guys should know that dynamat is not exacly the only thing out there that would work well.

Chris

PS. Will post pictures of this project.

I'm still around! I'm just a lurker now

DIrEctQL, one problem with the foam is that it's better at stopping road/wind noise and the such than it is at stopping vibration noises. Dynamat increases the weight of panels which helps keeps vibrations at bay. I'm not sure which noise you're trying to stop, but it's just stuff to keep in mind

Yeah, dynamat is basically tar with lead in it. It very dense and very good and dampening vibration. In home theater, we use sandbags and leadshot. Carpet is good for absorbing reflective sound such as the higher frequencies, but has minimal effect at dampening low octaves.

Dub, nice to see you still lurking around . How's your sister's SC doing?

i installed my kicker free air sub,and it looks completely stock in it's position on the rear deck. the cover for the sub still fits and it sound really clean.
The bass is deeper than stock, but i do have an alpine 5 channel amp installed as well. i used the original plastic /metal ring that housed the old sub,cut that ring, shaved it down to make the kicker sub fit perfectly in it's place and used screws to afix the sub to the ring-when finished, mounts right where it used to -in stock form. will post pics soon..........

So I finally did it. Check out the link below. Just to let you know you guys were wrong about the carpet padding not being a good way to sound proof. Sounds even better except something in the passager door is still vibrating!

Wow that sounds like what I need to do to my car, I really wish I just did my install myself, I don't trust anyone w/ my car anymore, only person that will do it yourway is yourself. Anyways, do you have directions on how to get the seat out, I tried to grab the bottom of my seats and maybe I didn't pull very hard, but I couldn't get them out. This is a thread that illustrates it well, do I just yank harder???

Phoenix, pull up on the seat like you're pulling seat cushions out of a couch. Due to the cramped space and awkward position you'll be in, you might have to put your weight into it. Lean forward and yank.
