price check on 97 sc300

The responses are always predictable whenever you talk about value or price because it's a subjective issue and everyone has preferences and opinions. Not everyone can understand why anyone would pay 140k for a 69 Z28, but people do, and the people that want that perfect numbers matching Z28 know that that's the price of ownership. You may prefer a sedan, or something faster, or newer, but if you have your heart set on a particular car, and it was built in low numbers, prepare to pay for that exclusivity. The SC is no Z28 you say? So says you. It's also not a 58 Buick Special, or a Studebaker Golden Hawk, but those too are special cars to enough people that they command a premium price. I was at the Masters two years ago and right up by the clubhouse they had a small parking lot reserved for club members, probably held a dozen cars or so. Out of the ten cars in the lot, six were first generation SC's. That says a bunch people.

I'm guessing most of you negative Nancy's don't have a '97 5-speed. When you look at the rarity, the timeless design of BOTH the exterior & interior, fun to drive....and how much people spend to have their pre-97 look like a 97 or newer....10k is a fair asking price. Especially when you consider how guys from California are always looking for a manual. Although I'm not fan of green, the 97green is an improvement over the older years. I saw one about a month ago and was suprised how good it looked. Also, not everyone wants a black interior. Both of mine have tan interiors, and I personally think black is boring in comparison. Hey, 5spd97.
Where in SC are you? My son is at Clemson.
