Soooo... Do you guys think that with the recession in the states happening that the government is going to allow importing Japanese vehicles? The US is hurting so bad for money that they are now charging $5 for us Canadians to enter the States. Canada and Mexico has always been free of charge to enter but this is a way to bring extra cash into the country. I think Canada was more lenient with importing because there really wasn't anything cool to import when they made the rule. Here in BC, our insurance company "ICBC" hates imported cars because they make money on all cars sold here. Quebec recently banned any new RHD cars from being imported and the other provinces are trying to do the same thing. Any RHD's in Quebec are grandfathered in and allowed to stay. In Alberta, they have more than 1 insurance agency to pick from and now they are starting to refuse insuring JDM's.

Also, here in BC, if you get in a accident in a JDM, 99% chance they will write the car off and give you much less than it's worth.

Here we have a protectionist clause that has banned parallel importing for anything that was sold here locally, same goes for anything that doesn't have a RAWS approval, only way to get it in is either own it (with proof) overseas for at least 12 months or if you have a CAMS Stage 3 license (auto racing body) and then it's allowed in for race use only.

What for? It's sold in the US as a Pontiac (G8?). Just switch the bumpers and badges
