Car Audio? Why few have it?

Pianoman,
there is not really one set AMP that is best, it realy comes down to the type of sound you are looking for. As for re-wiring yeah they will have to run all new wires. Also note that if you are not building abox for your sub and plan on useing the factory sapce you got to get a free air sub.

Thanks, It was a sweet setup:
4 Rockford Fosgate 18" pro's and 2 RF power 1000's to drive them.
2 Boston Acoustic 10" Pro (mid)bass powered by a Kenwood KAC 1020 (320W X 2)
6 Boston Acoustic 6.2 Pro's W/ Neo "IT" Tweets
2 Boston Acoustic 5.2 Pro's W/ Neo's
2 Boston Acoustic 4.2 Pro's W/ Neo's
2 Yamaha 6" mids YCS-600
1 Center channel, and for the life of me I can't remember what it was -
All that was powered by 2 Rockford Fosgate Power 650's
4 Deep cycle marine batteries - 6 Farads of storage
(2) 240 Amp alternators (man those things slow the car down; its like having 4 A/C units on when they crank on) and all was regulated by the Symetry system by RF. Also had 2 Audio Control EQT's (prior) and an ESP-3 (I hope thats right) for the center channel. I never had the Ol' Epicenter, but I installed many of them. Man those were the days.
I cracked the winshield once, and completely dropped the rear hatchback twice (ended up going 100% plexy). The hardest thing was sealing the car completely- had to strip the dash all the way down and seal the friggin firewall and then dampen it, not to mention I had to lower the gas tank several inches so I could get enough air space behind each sub. Not an easy task. In the end; I had a lot of fun, met a bunch of good friends, and probably lost my hearing. After over 4 years of competing, I was hit by a drunk driver one night and the car was totaled (I had to get cut out). The the insurance company bailed out on me because I had an off road exhaust system w/ no cats- said the car wasn't street legal. 2 different Lawyers could not get a cent from the insurance company - talk about a ******. Moral of the story - check your insurance policys for the little stuff!
Luckily I was able to salvage some of the stuff, but I lost so much money because of that. Now nearly 10 years later, I'm getting the itch again! My wife's gonna kill me!
Thanks for letting me reminiss,
Keith

5.25?
I got my Pioneer 6.5" to fit straight in to the spacer? This was on a Soarer as you all know, but I'd be guessing it's the same size between the JDM and US models?

I don't think there is such a thing as a Toyota 5 1/4" speaker. It's almost exclusively 5" or 4"

SC has all 4" speakers - you can put 6" in, but the factory came w/ 4'.
I currently have (4) 6" speakers across the back, with no modifications required - I just built a small box to enclose each pair, then used a camping mat pad to cut out the gaskets to seal the speakers to the metal holes (removed the amp and the square hole fits a 6" quite nicely -home made gasket seals nicely too). I did remove the cardboard backing off the rear facia deck, and it is already perforated from the factory, made me kinda wonder why, but it poped out easily and now the speaker will fire through a piece of heavy fabric. Sounds fine.

correct..
stock 4" all the way around,... but bigger will fit,... i have 4's in front, 6.5 in rear...
the rear grills are larger than the actual speaker fitment.
