And of course the sidewall will be smaller with any larger wheel including 17s. 17s would raise the car as well if you kept the same size sidewall as the stock wheels.
and now we're on the same page cali! 17s raise the car too! just like 18s.. they allllllll raise the car but i have limits. I will NOT be rolling with wheels almost as wide as tall they are.

also, I think it looks sporty based on pics. either that or maybe im just a huge fan of rpf1s. Either way ill update you guys on what i go with. to be honest i highly doubt ill find another set of sp1's in 17s with negative offsets which i wanted before.

SC300_704's car above looks good with 17s. And I think some SC's can pull off the 17" Supra wheels pretty well. But of course the Supra wheels have stock offsets.

I think it all depends on the the ride height o the car. A local SC i've seen has Supra TT wheels and a stock ride height and it looks factory. I'm riding 17s but because of the way they look i have to slam it in order to look right. I wish i could post a pic of mine but it's in the shop. 17x8 -1, 17x9 +13 I know the offsets are funny, but i'm just saving a silly little spacer problem.

Did the search button stop working like SupraForums? Plenty of members running 17's.

17s wont raise your car.. neither will 18s, 19s, or even 20s.

http://www.1010tires.com/TireSizeCalculator.asp

225/55/16 (oem) overall diameter - 25.74"
235/45/17 - 25.32"
235/40/18 - 25.40"
235/35/19 - 25.47"
235/30/20 - 25.55"

the difference is negligible.

..and you should know you can buy tires for next to nothing (sunny, nexen, etc) or you can spend a couple grand (advan, pirelli, etc). its true for any size tire and its very subjective based on what you want and need.

Seems a bit ignorant imo.

And we're on the same page kohinoor. Never really checked out the dirt cheap brands though. What do you ride on?

I have Nankang Sports because my SC is my daily. They are quiet and have good load ratings for our heavy car. Anyway they are 18s and were $400 shipped to my door for all 4.

lol @ stolen from zilvia^^^

I used to say anything under 20 inches isnt a proper wheel, but as time has went on and I see other peoples cars my taste has changed somewhat .

The cars tabaka posted and the ones above with 17's actually look pretty good in my opinion.

To the person that said if your worried about tire cost your driving the wrong car I can see your point , but after owning an sc for almost 3 years and going through about 7-8, 20 inch replacement rubbers after my original 4used ones that came with the rims+ I can see where cost can start to affect someone choice on wheel size.

But like Kohinoor said the diference in hight is neglegable, yes a 17 inch wheel with low pros will be lower then a 20 inch with low pros but at the end of the day its not much of a diff. Just adjust your suspesion accordingly.

Just go with what you like man , the difference in hieght and cost of rubbers is minor enough that it shouldnt sway your decision..good luck.

Wow! that looks FANTASTIC! I went through the zilvia classifieds but never though i would find it in the stretch thread. Thanks for the post bubba.

And yes *****, you understand on all points inclusive of what I'm saying about the height. Of course that's not a definitive factor, but its just another notch on the list; also why would i want to throw money at a car unnecessarily. Just because its a lexus doesnt mean i need to treat it as if it were a money pit. In fact im pretty sure my wheelsz and tires will cost more than my car, all modifications/chassis inclusive. Meh.
