Hi
I just read the GS HID conversion guide and manaray's guide for the SC. My quesion is, from Manaray's pics, it looks like some wires needed to be connected to the battery. However, from the GS guide, there seems to be no wires connected to the battery.
Anyone has an explanation?? Maybe they are different types of kits??
Also, what does the relay box do exactly??
Thanks!

The proper way to install HIDs is to use a battery relay/relay harness. If the GS setup is not using one, it is taking an uneccessary risk. The ignitor built into the D2 ballast produces a ~25kW primary charge to fire up the HID bulbs. Without a battery relay, all this power and current would be drawn from the alternator, which would strain it over time and increase risk of fire and electrical failure. A battery relay taps your battery for the extra juice and bypasses the alternator. The relay harness also usually has two or three additional inline fuses to check possible electrical shorts. The HID kit will work perfectly fine without a battery relay, but that still doesn't make it a good idea. Hell your car can run perfectly fine without a fusebox, but would you drive it around without one? Buy an HID kit from www.Autolamps-online.com or www.SUVLights.com . They both come with heavy duty relay harnesses that are easy to install.

the GS HID installation guide can be found under 'information' section on the top of the page. click on 'DIY' and 'HID installation'.
it looks like the relay box is not connected to the battery in this case. ??????
