Default New to the SC scene!

Hey everybody. Well I have finally joined the SC scene! I have been a car guy my whole life have had many cars over the years from turbo 1g DSM's to a couple of Supra s to some early muscle cars and even some early British cars. I am very excite to get started on this one! I have purchased a 92 SC300 with a 1jz swap that was started but not completed! (bought it for a song) and I am looking forward to the mods and shaking the car down. I have a 2j engine that will eventually end up in it I am sure. Anyway, glad to be here!

not sure exactly what i want to do with the car. just running thru it fixing all the know problems it has. Got the drivers side door panel working again by soldering the broken wire, also i am slowly replacing the center console that was missing, putting all the interior peices back where they belong. Things i am still fixing: passenger side window not working, fuel pump not shutting off when car is turnt off, when the brake light switch is plugged in the car stalls, temp and gas need not illuminated, starter bearing making noise, and thats all i can remember right now.
My starter bearing is noisy as well... Welcome to CL!

Default Long time CL user, but few posts

hey guys, I am a long time member but post very rarely. Over the past 12 years I have owned 3 SC400s, 3 SC300s, and 5 LS400s.

I currently own 3.5 SCs ('94 SC400, '96 SC300 parts car, '94 SC400 setup for 1/2jzgte - no engine yet, and a few parts left of my '92 parts car).

Currently I am involved in many SC projects here in Phoenix.

I am building a 4.7L Tundra block/1uz/r154 for my black on tan '95 SC400 - building what Lexus should have! I have purchased the interior manual swap parts, pedals, clutch master cylinder, and aluminum driveshaft from DriftMotion.com, the r154 transmission adapter/clutch kit from Quantum-Auto.com, Tilton hydro TO bearing, and just got my tranny rebuilt with all Marlin Crawler and OEM internals. Looking for 400-500 RWHP on a Supra Turbo 5 speed after the engine build. I just replaced leather and the steering rack on this car and its currently sitting on Supra struts, lowering springs, and black staggered 18" wheels. This car is gonna be sick...

I am also searching for a viable 1jzgte longblock for my other black SC400. The car has the LS400 front brake upgrade, new rotors, and a stripped interior. Im thinking drift car...

My red SC300 is currently being stripped for parts. I hope to start selling various used parts after I meet the site requirements for posting them.

Went from a 500hp LS1 to this car!

It's very dirty, please excuse it.

Default Introduction

Hello, I have 2 1993 SC400s and 2 RX350s a 2007 and a 2008. Needless to say I like the Lexus cars.

I am thinking of selling one of a white SC400 that has 140k miles on it. It is in very good shape with no body problems and only a little wear and tear on the interior. Here are a couple of questions. The SC I want to sell is located in San Diego. Any suggestions as to a fair price to ask?

Also this SC runs about 3400 rpm at 70mph. Is this about right? I don't remember what my other one runs at and it is back in WI. It runs fine, and is very responsive but I'm questioning the extra fuel a couple of hundred rpm would use.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I'd start high, then lower the price over time. Or what I did when I was selling a car was say the price is FIRM, so I didn't get any flakes test driving it. Your RPM's don't sound unusually high, but it might only show that because you have it in overdrive, which is better on gas, and uses lower gears. Take it out of overdrive and it will probably get down to 2900-3200 RPM's at 70 mph.

Welcome to CL! Post up some pictures of your 4 Lexus'!

^^^^^^^ I'm no mechanic, but I think that's incorrect. His SC is about 1000 rpm higher than normal for 70 mph in overdrive. When you are in overdrive the car should be around 2500-2700 at 70 mph. If you are out of overdrive the car will be in third gear at 70mph which would explain the high RPM around 3500.

I stand *sit* corrected. 3400 RPM's is too high. Even if you have the car in overdrive. 2700 RPM's in overdrive @ 70 MPH is were it is supposed to be.
chrisindub is correct.

Default Read my whole story please!

Hey guys! I'm new on here,
my basic story is that I'm a 16 year old guy, and I drive a 1996 Lexus sc300 with around 80k miles. it is all 100% stock and super clean. I like to call her my virgin shes pearl white with tan interior. She does have an automatic transmission which I plan to change to the 5 speed asap. I also want to do a NA-T setup eventually, because lets be real, 225hp isn't the best this engine can do some of the first mods i want to start with is suspension, wheels and heaven forbid that ugly stock 4 spoke steering wheel (I'm thinking about the is300 wheel or the newer 3 spoke sc wheel) If anybody wants to help me make any decisions on anything mods wise, maybe about something you like about your car that added, message me!

Other than that, I don't have much more to say. I'm hoping to become a Lexus technician, I don't care what anyone says about becoming a technician. It's what I love and what I want to do. I may be going into the T-Ten program, if not I already have places lined up who are ready to give me an internship as soon as I pass my first ASE test this January. Unfortunately I do not own a Lexus, I have no where near the money to own a Lexus haha. I drive a 1981 Jeep CJ-7 that gets terrible mpg. And that's basically all I have to say. I love Lexus, Audi as well as Jeeps.
my jeep gets better mpg then my sc300

Hello club members. My name is Marc Anthony. I'm a recent proud owner of a green 1992 sc 400 with a little over 200,000 miles living in Memphis, Tn. I bought it out of Houston Tx. I look to get some much needed info on the sc 400, cuz even though I have always liked the looks of it, I don't know much about it.
