Default First sc

Hello everyone one! Been a long time lurker to this page and have always love the sc's and was finally able to purchase my first sc400 this after noon. It's a black 92 sc400 from Texas bone stock with 150k miles. The pictures are not the best. I'll have more posted as soon as I get the car home.

Default 2 Years and Counting...

What's up guys! I've been on CL for almost two years now and I'm just now posting here. Little background, purchased the in SC in 2015 as my first car and it was bought in a bit of a rush. Previous owners didn't really take care of it so I plan on getting up to par and owning it forever. It slung a rod towards the end '15 and I ended up keeping it instead of junking it. I still have a bit of ways to go (maintenance wise) before I think about boosting it so I plan on keeping it NA for now.

Nice pick up! How long has she been sitting? That Texas plate hasn't been issued since ~1997.

not sure why there was a Texas plate on the car lol. It is originally from Texas but the guy I bought it from had it registered here in ny. But it hasn't seen the road in 3 years

Hey guys,

My name's Kris, I'm in the southern California area, I've been lurking on the forums for about 6 months now, checking build threads, quirks, advice, and info on the SC's. I was in the market for a new project car, something that I wanted to enjoy driving on my commute, as well as modify and make really fun, even if it takes a while. I came from a 2012 Evo X with full bolt ons, and tuned on e85 at just over 415hp/420tq. I sold that, picked up a 2016 m235i lease for work, and the sc for my long drive for school and to play with. It's a '98 with 180k on the odo, black, interior is in great condition, as well as the car over all. The previous owner took great care of the car, and at 165k it had the head gaskets, crank seals, valves and timing belt with water pump done.
Just needs a few small things; 3rd brake light is out. cupholder lid is busted, the vents on the dash have a small crack, but only the middle two, the headliner/visor is a bit dirty, and the seats would benefit from a reupholster (have an appointment tomorrow to see about that), needs an alignment (also being taken care of tomorrow), steering wheel tilt only extends in/out, not up and down, hood props are worn out.
I have already ordered:
new wiper blades, new headlight bulbs, a double din headunit, back up camera, hood props to replace the worn out ones, and thats it!
Tomorrow I'll be fixing the steering wheel tilt issue (i found the threads on the repair!)

I'm excited to start the project, after the alignment tomorrow I'll be swapping on a set of wheels/tires I have in the garage; Volk CE28N's in 18x9.5 +22 wrapped in 265 Michelin Pilot Super Sports.
Long term plans are 2jzgte swap, with the r154 tranny, as my car is currently an automatic. possibly coil overs, depending on how much the michelins change the ride quality, the car currently has a nasty set of 19" wheels on off brand low profile tires that rub at full wheel lock.
short term: getting the interior carpet steam cleaned, reupholster the seats, headunit, tint all around, and address any other quirks i find.
Here she is; needles on the odometer still work, no cracks on the vents in the door,

What's good everyone, my name's Nick and i got a '95 SC400.

I can into this lavish luxury lifestyle of lexus unexpectedly. Before the SC, I had a miata i built from stock that was totaled by some stupid old ***** who ran a light. Devastated me obviously, but have always loved the big body luxury platform and the history behind them. I personally love to drift, and the subculture that follows it. I know I fit the stereotype, young kid drifting around causing problems but that's about half true. I enjoy filming everything I do, along with my friends and upload it all to YouTube. The Lexus will be documented extensively on there, so if thats your thing i'd appreciate it if you could give the videos a view. Short introduction, but expect more from me soon. Thanks in advance to all you guys on here for the helping i'm gonna need with the new project

Welcome! Great find and your list of planned mods sounds great.

Almost every SC has cracked vents (mine included) with lots of threads on the topic.

The 265 wide tires may be a bit of a challenge on the front; the guys over in the "Wheel and Tire fitment" thread are a world of experience and can comment (they were a great help to me on our SC).

Look forward to seeing your progress and pictures!!!

Default My new sexc400

All I'd like to say here to introduce myself is I used to drive a 04 honda accord and the amount of upgrading I did by going backwards 9 years is absolutely mind blowing. Im sticking with lexus till I die. Beautifully crafted machine in my hands for a reasonable price thanks to lovely depreciation!!

bought on 11/28/16
1995 with 97,323 miles bought for 5K!
I'd also like to thank alot of you (obviously not personally) to who helped me out with tough questions that had me stumped.. mostly because I do not know very much about cars but this is a wonderful site where people can get together with the same burning passion for Lexus and help each other continue on driving these beautiful beasts. Thanks to this site I've already saved around 500$ in repair costs! Ive already had to replace the radiator (which I found a link on here for half the price of other sites) and thermostat due to cooling problems I was unaware of when I bought it but everything sings in this year of 2017 and I hope to bring this whip into the 200,000s as I've seen they can make it with the right love. And I plan to do so with some of your guys help!!! Thanks to all and continue on CLUBLEXUS!

Default Greetings!

Hello,

I just purchased a 1993 Lexus SC400 from an individual off Facebook. He told me the motor had recently been rebuilt with roughly 60K on the motor. I am not sure if that is accurate as there is no paperwork to show. The car has leather seats, and sunroof. There are little Knick knack things wrong with the car such as window motors, the passenger side door can’t be open from the outside. Numerous rattles sounds from the interior. I think only one speaker is working properly. There is also a whining noise coming from passenger glovebox which sounds like a vacuum leak or something possible with the blower motor. I also discovered that the windshield wipers only have one very slow speed. Being that it’s a 93 I accepted there was going to be little gremlins and parts failing. The “body” has ~ 203K miles on it. I fell in love with the car as soon as I got the privilege to drive it. I am new to automotive in general, but I need to find a healthy hobby rather than programming all day. I will be driving this daily, and I plan to put money in it as I go. Also which was really weird is the back passenger side where the long amber turn signal is was a bulb that was completely rusted and seized. I have to try my luck and find a whole new socket, and splice it in. Ebay is going to be my friend for the foreseeable future.
