Traded someone for a 92 sc300 auto with Volks and cut springs. Replaced ecu because of leaking capacitors, alternator because of leaking distributor seal soaking it, and half assed cleaned it. Currently trying to locate a set of coilovers, other suspension parts and bushings, and fix oil leaks that destroy alternators. Sometime in the near future it's getting a 6.0 lq9 I have and a tremec gearbox.

Looking forward to driving this car and the things I have planned for it.

Hi Fellow SC'ers I currently have a 95 sc300 Auto. Its Gold with tan interior sitting on is300 wheels, other then the wheels all i have done is wet sand and UV resistant clearcoat the headlight (no more foggy lights), a new to me head unit and removed/bypassed the factory amp and disk changer and installed some 0g wire and an amp just running a little 8in sub i had kicking around right now sounds decent but yesterday I hooked up the factory sub to my aftermarket amp, retuned it a bit and is sounded much better then i expected, Also fixed the all lights dimming when you hit the brakes problem.

not the best picture but its the only one i had. More to Come

Default SC400 new owner and new CL member

Hey guys what's up! I have been searching for a clean SC400 for about a year now and I recently purchased a wrecked "totaled" super clean 95 Lexus SC400. It was claimed into insurance so I bought it knowing that it has a salvage title, but all together I only paid 900$ for it. I am Doing all the repairs my self and once I get it back on the road I'd like to start modding it. I am going to start out swapping a W58 tranny in and then go from there. That's just a little about me and my car hope to here back from you guys! I'll add some pictures of her as well, thanks! Stupid clean interior, already have both air bags installed

[QUOTE=SC3006mt;9767610]Hi, all.
Bought a SC300 to build as a track car/weekend warrior. 1997 red and automatic. First thing on the list is manual swap with 350z 6mt trans
Hi I am new to CL and I just bought a sc400. Do you know anything about sapping transmissions? I've never heard of a 6mt trans so if you could give me some information about it that would be very helpful! Thanks

If your are doing an r154 swap then I would be interested in purchasing your w58

Hi guys. I just bought a brand new, uh, well it might as well be brand new with the way it rides and drives, what a machine! I love it! Sorry got carried away. I just bought a 1999 SC400 with 136,000 miles and I plan on putting as many on it for years to come. I remember way back when I first saw this vehicle and was really impressed with the lines of the car but it wasn't until I drove it that the true brilliance of this automobile hit me....

Anyways, please see the pics. I will be starting out with a complete overhaul of the power steering pump and resovoir which is howling. I will be adding some new rims and tires. I will also be adding a new Double Din radio for hands free calling and many of the other amenities that come from 2017 tech. I will obviously be perusing all the related threads and posts and let me thank all of you well ahead of time for all the invaluable information provided. Hopefully I will be able to contribute as well.

Thanks
Chris

Hey everyone. I'm back. I was on CL a loong time ago when I had a 98 GS400. Well, recently purchased a 1995 SC300 as a new project car. I always wanted one of these so I intend to fix it up. I'm glad to see the community is still around and going strong.

So far I have managed to find quite a lot of helpful information, so thanks to everyone for sharing

Some of the items I have already done thanks to CL.
1. Tilt steering wheel not working
2. Replacing the hood and trunk lifts
3. How to remove rear seats and rear deck
4. ECU capacitor repair
5. Transmission axle mount
6. How to remove headlights and change the parking lights

There's more on the to-do list....

Default New to the club from AZ

What's up everyone. I'm Mike and just picked up a 98 SC400 about a month ago. I've done the Mustang, Camaro. Evo and Honda thing over the years, but always wanted an SC. I started to tear into the maintenance portion right now ( Timing, plugs, fluids etc...). looking to get some power to it in the near future. Supercharger? Turbo? not sure. having trouble finding the best routes. Anyway, Glad to be here!

Skeech here. First off, thanks to everyone who makes this site happen, and to all who post here. This is my first Lexus and repair manuals are scarce. I've learned a lot from folks here. I've left thanks on those posts.

I have a 95 SC 400. Previous owner was non mechanical and took it to non lexus mechanics for work. He saved all his receipts, and he was taken to the cleaner on the power steering pump a few times, hence his desire to part with her. It had a dead battery and alternator and I put in a 145 amp alternator with a plastic shroud over it in case of a future leak. I love the performance of this car! Sporty! I put 100-watt bulbs in my fog lights, WAY better periphery. Looking at headlights. Speakers all shot too, so I get to pick new ones.

Haven't considered too many mods yet, just bringing her up to spec and full 90k and 120k services. Right now I'm replacing the entire cooling system. She has 150k and I'm now converting to an electric cooling fan. I have to admit I'm surprised how small the radiator is, and I'm looking for a 2 row that will fit. Once that's in, I'll look at intake and exhaust mods and nicer wheels. Oh and one more thing: I like a hard 2nd gear shift, so I plan to do the Bedlam's autobox mod to get faster shifts. Maybe a nice dual gate shifter! I posted pics on my profile library, but here's a couple right here right now. Happy motoring, gentleman!

Hey Guys,

I just bought a 1992 SC300 original 5spd. The guy I bought it from was a ricer, so I'm in the process of replacing the interior. My plans are to go NA-t with this car. When I get started with the NA-t build out, I plan on starting a post to document my progress.
