Looks like you have a great start for $400.00. Good luck and don't be shy with pictures of your progress. I had the same problem with my ECU and a friend repaired mine.

I’m looking to get mine repaired but am absolutely blind on knowledge on who to send my ecu to. I’m in need of the car ASAP as my work truck is only available temporarily. Any help would be highly appreciated.

Try Tanin Auto Electronix. These are the guys to go to on your cluster etc.. They have slowed down on ECU repairs, you will have to call them and give them your information and then they will advise you if they can repair it. Good Luck.
Oh by the way their phone number is 262 456-4147.

Add SIA Electronics to potential vendors on ECU repairs. About a week or so on turn around…

Hello everyone, been a long time member that has never posted. I have owned a 92 SC400, a 98 SC400 which was just sold to purchase the 99 SC400 in the photos below. I had been looking for 3+ years for the Silver/Black color combo with low mileage, dealer serviced, etc.and finally found it. Probably overpaid, but such is life as these cars become harder and harder to find. I wanted to thank everyone for all the useful information and DIY threads that have saved me a lot of time, money and headache over the years. Since purchase I have installed SilverStar Ultra headlights, purchased Vertex clear corners (yet to be installed), ShinetSu greased every piece of rubber on the car, added mounting tape under the sunroof seal (thanks john_SC400), road forced balanced the tires, alignment and resurfaced the rotors. Absolutely love the car, drives amazing and will probably never sell it! Thanks again everyone for all the info over the years, truly a great resource for these cars.

My name is Stephon I just picked up a 92 black Sc400 with 100k. I wish I bought it 5 years ago when the market wasn’t so high. Was about to get a decent deal until he came onto CL and people told him to sell it for more. So thanks guys!!! Lol The car wasn’t even pristine. Door dings and little things here and there was hiding in the angles and shadows of the paint. I just wanted the car so badly and I’ve been looking for months.

To top everything off. A week after I bought it someone hit my left quarter panel on the street in the morning and didn’t leave a note or anything. Did I mention it happened on my birthday as well?!?!?! No cameras around and now I have to pay $1000 for my deductible to get the car fixed.. still debating if I want to keep the car anymore… I know I’m definitely not going to get my money back that’s for sure.

well i guess i already failed to follow instructions! Hello everyone, newly aquired SC400. Got it for my son and have been stalking your forum for about two weeks now.
chasing a idle problem. i have ordered a gang of parts hoping for success soon but this vehicle has been touched by many unloving hands. hopefully we can get intothe modding phase as i have seen some very nice example here! I'll post pics as soon as I figure out how to do so!

Welcome, congratulations on your SC400 acquisition. These cars are wonderful but you will need patience and persistence and it all will come back to you in dividends. I have had a lot of questions answered here and you will too, just hang in there. And good luck on you and your son on this new project.

Welcome to both of you! Love the father son SC projects - always makes me smile!!

JinxedSc - beautiful car and sorry to see the dent... A good PDR place may be able to get most of that out without going to crazy..

“…chasing an idle problem…”. Hmmm…. Check the ECU…. Likely has leaky capacitors and will need to be rebuilt/repaired. Welcome to the fold…

Make sure to always reference the year of the car…

Default Well now i guess I should post something

It's Michael currently in mid MO. I bought an 1992 sc300 early this year 140k miles goodwill donated. I immediately jumped to I wanna put max power to the wheels and started buying parts. Now we are seven months into waiting on a 2 mil cometic headgasket and my power goals keep dropping. I'm loving this car though. Sane reasonable person that I am the plan is to pick up a 92 sc400 this week hopefully that pans out. I've been lurking trying to absorb what information I can. I had a problem that was pretty specific and couldn't find exact info on so I'm here to try and help anyone else with the same issue. I am gonna try to use this as a running log of what I have worked on and my thought process behind it. Hopefully it won't just be documentation on how I ruined a pretty clean example of a really nice car.

Welcome! Glad to have you. I've changed directions here and there with my SC's too. I haven't regretted doing much, however, it is easy to get carried away wanting to mod. On the other hand, these cars are so much fun and so pleasant no matter how stock they stay. Enjoy and keep us posted!

Default Excited to join you guys

Hello,

I went down the JDM rabbit hole where I found out about the sc 300/400 on youtube. After some searching I couldn't find a 300 but that's okay because I honestly love the aesthetics of this car. Got my 97' 400 with 250,XXX miles but hey, she'll be with me for life and I'm going to try and keep her alive and well. There is a lot wrong with the car but I'm going to try and get what I can do fixed little by little. If the engine truly is a million mile engine I'll catch up somewhere down the road. I'm taking her into a toyota specialist nearby to get a diagnosis on this baby and after that I'm considering picking up an engine online so I can start to learn how to do things myself down the road. Idk what the plan is yet but I would love a solid engine, immaculate paint, Body kit, interior restoration, headers and exhaust. I'm not a track driver or drifter so I think putting money into that stuff will get me into trouble somehow. Anyways. I love the car, regardless of cons.
